  • Thrill Seekers with Alex Dolan: Terence Hawkins
Terence Hawkins was raised in Fayette County, PA, a former coal hub later distinguished as the setting for the original Night of the Living Dead and American Rust. He graduated from Yale, where he was Publisher of the Yale Daily News, and received a law degree from the University of Wisconsin. In 2012 he became the founding Director of the Yale Writers’ Conference, which he developed and managed through 2015. He is now the Director of the Company of Writers and Prose Editor of Blue Mountain Review. His first novel, The Rage of Achilles, is a realistic and sometimes brutal account of the Iliad based on the theory of the bicameral mind. Tom Perrotta called it a “genuinely fresh take on a classic text.” In naming it a Year’s Best, Kirkus Reviews called his second, American Neolithic, “a towering work of speculative fiction.” Kirkus also called his collection Turing’s Graveyard “extraordinary stories that will make readers laugh, shiver, or perhaps both,” and Booklist compared it to the Twilight Zone. He is now at work on a counterfactual historical novel. He lives in Connecticut.
Alex Dolan is the author of The Euthanist and The Empress of Tempera. He is also the host of the "Thrill Seekers" show on the Authors on the Air Global Radio Network. He was an executive committee member of the San Francisco Bay Area's Litquake festival, and is a member of International Thriller Writers and Sisters in Crime. He holds an MS in strategic communications from Columbia University.

  • S2:E10 Alice Loweecey
Alice Loweecey, author of the Driscoll Investigation Mysteries, joins me in the corner to chat about what bad guys say when they get shot, how you tweak a series when it moves from one publishing house to another, and nuns. Yes, nuns.
Find Alice at https://www.aliceloweecey.net/ You'll also learn about her (not-so) secret identity as Kate Morgan, the pen name she uses when she writes her dark horror novels. How dark? Burned eyeballs dark. But don't worry, aside from being funny, her Giulia Driscoll novels are nothing like her horror fiction. They're a light read that won't have you triple checking to make sure you locked the doors.
