  • Seamus Heffernan Interview for Noir on the Radio
Before embarking on his writing career, Seamus Heffernan worked in education, journalism, marketing and politics, and earned an MA in criminology from the University of the Fraser Valley. He's called several places home, including a lengthy stint in London, England. He currently resides in British Columbia, where he splits his time between Abbotsford, Mission and Vancouver.
Heffernan's new book, "Napalm Hearts," is a rip-roaring P.I. novel set in jolly ol' England. Thaddeus Grayle is a bored American private investigator, recently divorced, who takes a case from a wealthy businessman desperate to find his hard-partying wife. Of course, things only go progressively more wrong from there.
On this edition of "Noir on the Radio," we talk everything from pulp-fiction influences to comics to the best ways to write. Check it out!

  • Anthony winner Kellye Garrett & HOLLYWOOD ENDING on Authors on the Air
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes the 2018 Anthology award winner Kellye Garrett to the show.
    About Kellye:
Kellye Garrett’s first novel, Hollywood Homicide, was released by Midnight Ink in August 2017.  In addition to receiving starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and Library Journal, it won the Agatha, Anthony, Lefty and Independent Publisher “IPPY” awards for best first novel. It was also nominated for the Macavity Award for Best First Mystery Novel and Barry award for Best Paperback Original. Hollywood Ending, won the 2018 Anthony Award.
Kellye previously spent 8 years working in Hollywood, including a stint writing for the CBS drama Cold Case. People were always surprised to learn what she did for a living—probably because she seemed way too happy to be brainstorming ways to murder people. A former magazine editor, Kellye holds a B.S. in magazine writing from Florida A&M and an MFA in screenwriting from USC’s famed film school. Having moved back to her native New Jersey, she spends her mornings commuting to Manhattan for her job at a leading media company—while still happily brainstorming ways to commit murder.  You can learn more at KellyeGarrett.com.

  • Kid's author Marie Unanue teaches kindness thru books on Authors on the Air
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes children's book author Marie Unanue, who wrote The Adventures of Phatty & Payaso: Central Park.
About my guest:  Marie Unanue is the new author of the children’s book series, “The Adventures of Phatty & Payaso.”  Marie has always been an avid reader and an activist for children who are bullied. As a kindness advocate, she hopes to inspire children across the world to remember to always treat each other with kindness and compassion. Marie sits on the board of the C&J Unanue Foundation and resides with her husband Andy and their animals in NYC and Mantoloking, NJ
About the book:   Through “The Adventures of Phatty and Payaso: Central Park,” child readers learn about good behavior and how to treat people with kindness. Kids can identify with a character’s fear or insecurity and experience the feeling of achievement when the character overcomes it. This is not just book about an adventure in Central Park, it is a book about kindness, character and overcoming obstacles. Like the best children’s content, though, these books have fun “inside jokes” for the parents reading along, with puns and pop culture references for those older bedside readers.  Unique in its use of minority characters to set the scene, this book will find a home on the shelves of those most focused on giving equal attention to special needs children, latin culture, and of course, cat lovers.
