  • A.J. Hartley - Andrew Hart is on the Menu at The Blue Plate Special
Host Terri Lynn Coop is pleased to serve up author and professor A.J. Hartley (who also writes as Andrew Hart) on The Blue Plate Special.
    About LIES THAT BIND US:
There aren’t many things in life that sound more relaxing to me than a weeklong Grecian getaway with good food, good wine, and good friends. What doesn’t sound relaxing to me? Waking up in a dark room, chained to a wall, with no memory how you got there during said vacation, which is exactly the predicament the protagonist, Jan, finds herself in Andrew Hart’s cautionary thriller, which can be best described as Paula Hawkins’s The Girl on the Train meets Emma Straub’s The Vacationers.
Lies That Bind Us is a riveting novel of suspense that deftly weaves together the rich culture and atmosphere of the Greek islands and their mythology, the fog of mystery surrounding Jan’s captivity, and the lies that led her there. Hart’s depictions are so immersive, I felt like I was there myself, experiencing first the warmth of the coastal sunshine on my skin and the taste of salt on my lips, and later the haze of confusion surrounding a trip gone very, very wrong. - Alicia Clancy, Editor
Andrew Hart is one of the pseudonyms of New York Times bestselling and award-winning author A. J. Hartley. • Author C.C. Hunter & THIS HEART OF MINE on Wine Women & Writing Radio
In honor of C.C. Hunter and THIS HEART OF MINE, Wine Women & Writing Radio is serving up a Lewis Wines 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon-Tempranillo from Texas's Newsom Vineyards. NYT-bestseller C.C.—aka Christie Craig—calls this haunting, poignant novel "the book of her heart."
C.C. grew up in Alabama, where she caught lightning bugs, ran barefoot, and regularly rescued potential princes, in the form of Alabama bullfrogs, from her brothers. Today, she's still fascinated with lightning bugs, mostly wears shoes, but has turned her focus to rescuing mammals. She now lives in Texas with her four rescued cats, one dog, and a prince of a husband, who for the record, is so not a frog. When she's not writing, she's reading, spending time with her family, or is shooting things-with a camera, not a gun.

  • Seamus Heffernan & his neo-noir NAPALM HEARTS book on Authors on the Air
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes debut novelist SEAMUS HEFFERNAN to the show.
About Seamus:    As a child, Seamus Heffernan’s parents indulged him far too much in his love of comic books, crime TV and pulp novels, and this is how he has decided to repay them. Prior to his writing career, he worked in education, journalism, marketing and politics, and earned an MA in criminology from the University of the Fraser Valley. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he has called several places home, including a lengthy stint in London, England. He currently resides in British Columbia, where he splits his time between Abbotsford, Mission and Vancouver.
About NAPALM HEARTS:  Find the girl. Find the truth.      Thaddeus Grayle is a successful but bored American private investigator who has grown weary of snooping after the cheating spouses of his adopted city of London, England. Recently divorced and even more recently sober, he fills what little free time he has with movies, baseball and his own torrid affairs. He wants a change, and it finally arrives thanks to a wealthy businessman desperate to find his hard-partying wife—a young woman who might be in the biggest trouble of her life.     Capably aided by his associates—the whip-smart Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Colbourne, and ex-copper Francis Ruddick—Grayle goes all in on the case he always wanted, which takes him deep into the city's seedy underbelly, and face-to-face with an upper-class at war with its own vices.    A cinematic neo-noir told with breakneck urgency, NAPALM HEARTS is the debut novel from an exciting new voice in crime fiction.
