  • Joe Ide returns to discuss RIGHTEOUS on Authors on the Air with Pam Stack
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes back best-selling and award-winning author JOE IDE to discuss the follow-up to his brilliant book IQ called RIGHTEOUS.  Joe Ide is a Japanese American grew up surrounded by the gangs and street crime of South Central Los Angeles. He enjoyed reading the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and had read them multiple times before he was in eighth grade. He is a college graduate and went on to get a graduate degree in education. Before becoming a writer, he worked as a school teacher, college lecturer, business consultant. One of those jobs was writing screenplays for major studios. He went on to write his debut novel, IQ, published in 2016. It won the Anthony Award for Best First Novel.
About RIGHTEOUS:   For ten years, something has gnawed at Isaiah Quintabe’s gut and kept him up nights, boiling with anger and thoughts of revenge. Ten years ago, when Isaiah was just a boy, his brother was killed by an unknown assailant. The search for a killer sent Isaiah plunging into despair and nearly destroyed his life. Even with a flourishing career, a new dog, and near-iconic status as a PI in his hometown, East Long Beach, he has to begin the hunt again—or lose his mind.
A case takes him and his dubious, volatile sidekick, Dodson, to Vegas, where Chinese gangsters and a terrifying seven-foot loan shark are stalking a beautiful DJ and her screwball boyfriend. If Isaiah doesn’t find the two first, they’ll be murdered. Awaiting the outcome is the love of IQ’s life: fail, and he’ll lose her.. With even more action, suspense, and mind-bending mysteries than Isaiah’s first adventures, Righteous is a rollicking, ingenious thrill ride.

  • Award-winning fiction author TOM PITTS on Authors on the Air with Pam Stack
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes two time award-winning crime fiction author TOM PITTS who is also the host of the radio talk show SKID ROW CHATTER with Tom Pitts.  Tom's novel, PIGGYBACK has just been released by Down & Out Books along with his new novel American Static.
When two young girls disappear with a trunk-load of pot, unaware their payload has been packed with an extra five kilos of cocaine, a lovable loser persuades a sociopathic killer to pursue them across Northern California on a violent, twisted goose-chase that ends in a horrific place none of them could have foreseen.
“Piggyback restores noir to its dark kingdom, a rollicking pumping novel of losers, psychos, stone killers, idiotic amateur rip-off artists, and a road-movie of a story that is as fast as it is beautifully written. Think Don Winslow’s Savages meets Christopher Cook’s Robbers and you have the dark read of the year.” —Ken Bruen, two-time Shamus Award-winner
“Piggyback is a wild frenzy of drugs, violence, and crazy plot twists. Somebody needs to make the film version.” Tony DuShane, author of Confessions of a Teenage Jesus Jerk

  • Meet BEAU JOHNSON, crime novelist on Authors on the Air with Pam Stack
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes crime ficiton author BEAU JOHNSON.  Tonight we will be discussing Beau's brand new book A BETTER KIND OF HATE which is getting raves reviews.  This is what I founnd on Amazon:
The world has never been perfect. The world has never been all bad. But there has always been evil and men who drink of it. This ends now.    Enter Bishop Rider and people like him who have had enough and are willing to embrace what most will not. The world will never be perfect. The world will never be all bad. It’s the middle we must embrace. This, a better kind of hate.
“Beau Johnson is a lawless writer. Several—but not all—of the stories in his collection, A Better Kind of Hate, feature his renegade cop alter ego Bishop Rider, a battered and bruised, world-weary hero forced to operate outside a corrupt system to find justice. And that’s just what these stories have in common: justice, in all its muted, corrupt glory. Whether showcasing Rider or another flawed hero, Johnson operates in shades of gray, where sometimes all it takes is for a bad man to kill a worse one. A stark and sobering reality, and a stellar debut.” —Joe Clifford, author of the Jay Porter Thriller Series
