Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes T. Jefferson Parker to the studio.  We'll be discussing Jeff's new book, THE ROOM OF WHITE FIRE, described here:  Roland Ford—once a cop, then a marine, now a private investigator—is good at finding people. But when he’s asked to locate an Air Force veteran who’s escaped from a mental institution, he realizes he’s been drawn into something deep and dark. What he doesn’t know is why a shroud of secrecy hangs over the disappearance of Clay Hickman—and why he’s getting a different story from everyone involved. In a flash, what began as just a job becomes a life-or-death obsession for Ford, pitting him against immensely powerful and treacherous people and forcing him to contend with chilling questions about truth, justice, and the American way.

C.J. Box has this to say about Jeff Parker's new book :  “T. Jefferson Parker is the poet of American crime fiction, and The Room of White Fire absolutely proves why. It’s topical, poignant, brutal, tragic and wry at the same time—and the tale thumps along with the rhythmic and stylistic soundtrack of a beating heart that seems to be shared by PI Roland Ford and Parker himself. There’s a damned good reason T. Jefferson Parker has won three Edgar Awards. The Room of White Fire is the opening salvo of a new series that might win him his fourth.”

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes former FBI agent turned ESPN secutiry director and author GEORGE FONG to the studio.  Tonight we will discussing George's new book THE COLDNESS OF NIGHT.

Promises are made to be kept; no matter how long – or what – it takes.

Five years ago, Robert Clarion was immersed in that perilous world of double-crosses, late-night deals, and constant glances over his shoulder. A dispute with a drug supplier culminated in the kidnapping of his daughter Rachel.  Clarion made a promise to his wife that, if they got their daughter back, he would get out of the drug business and never let anyone stand in the way of his family’s safety.  With the help of FBI Agent Jack Paris, Clarion’s daughter was rescued, but the person who carried out the kidnapping was never identified or captured. Paris promised if anyone came back looking for Rachel, he would keep her safe. Now, after all these years, the nightmare of the past has returned.  https://georgefong.com/

She’s been featured in the national media, including NPR and USA Today, has given programs for the US Embassies in Buenos Aires and Montevideo, and is a popular speaker locally, nationally, internationally, and on the high seas.   From the very start, her writings have illuminated the everyday dramas of ordinary people. In a very special episode of Authors on the Air IN CONVERSATION, please say hello to romantic supsense writers JULIE ANN WALKER and SCARLETT COLE.

Julie Ann Walker has saved the world. Or... at least the characters in her books have. In real life Julie prefers vino over villains, baked goods over bullets, and massages over missions, so she gets her international intrigue fix by writing romantic suspense novels that have been described as "alpha, edgy, and downright hot." A New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Julie enjoys riding her bicycle along Chicago's lake shore, fishing with her father, and going to baseball games with her husband, a self-confessed diehard Cubs fan.

Scarlett Cole is a writer of contemporary romance and a two-time RITA finalist. Her debut, THE STRONGEST STEEL, has already become an Amazon best seller in romantic suspense, was a Best Debut Goodreads Author Finalist 2015, and Authors On The Air Global Radio Network Contemporary Romance Pick of 2015. The FRACTURED HEART, THE PUREST HOOK, and THE DARKEST LINK are all available now.  With two new series, PRELOAD, starting in February 2017, and LOVE OVER DUTY, starting summer 2017, Scarlett writes full-time.

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes award-winning playwright, screenwriter and book author JOHN LEONARD PIELMEIER to the studio.  John Pielmeier is a three-time Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated playwright and screenwriter. His successful plays, television movies, and miniseries include Agnes of God, Gifted Hands, Choices of the Heart, The Memory Keeper’s Daughter, and successful screen adaption of Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth. He has received the Humanitas Award (plus two nominations), five Writers’ Guild Award nominations, a Gemini nomination, an Edgar Award, the Camie Award, and a Christopher Award. He is married to writer Irene O’Garden and lives in upstate New York. Hook’s Tale is his first novel.

ABOUT HOOK'S TALE:  A rollicking debut novel from award-winning playwright and screenwriter John Pielmeier reimagines the childhood of the much maligned Captain Hook: his quest for buried treasure, his friendship with Peter Pan, and the story behind the swashbuckling world of Neverland.     Long defamed as a vicious pirate, Captain James Cook (a.k.a Hook) was in fact a dazzling wordsmith who left behind a vibrant, wildly entertaining, and entirely truthful memoir. His chronicle offers a counter narrative to the works of J.M. Barrie, a “dour Scotsman” whose spurious accounts got it all wrong. Now, award-winning playwright John Pielmeier is proud to present this crucial historic artifact in its entirety for the first time.
