  • The mystery of Ireland and writing with Lisa Alber LIVE on Authors on the Air
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes author LISA ALBER to the studio for a chat about her life and books.  LISA ALBER is the author of the County Clare mystery series, which has been described as atmospheric, complex, and with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. The first novel, "Kilmoon," was a Rosebud Award finalist for best debut novel. The second novel, "Whispers in the Mist," is now available. Lisa is busy writing the third (and fourth!) novels in the series. From Lisa:  "I remember my first serious creative writing effort—a Shakespearean-style sonnet—and how thrilled I was when my English teacher gave copies of it to everyone in class and then read it aloud. My writing! Most especially, I remember almost fainting when the senior I secretly loved waylaid me after class to compliment my sonnet called “Amidst the Shades of Mine.” http://lisaalber.com

  • Richard North Patterson & Fever Swamp: A Journey Through the Strange Neverland
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack is proud to welcome international best-selling author RICHARD NORTH PATTERSON, who joins us for a discussion about his new book FEVER SWAMP: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE STRANGE NEVERLAND OF THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL RACE.   By fall 2015, the rise of Donald Trump as the likely Republican nominee confirmed that, for better or worse, Americans had been transported to a strange new land populated by mysterious creatures, where the normal laws of the political universe no longer applied. Fascinated, amused, and appalled, bestselling novelist Richard North Patterson accepted an invitation to write one column per week for the Huffington Post about the presidential race. Those essays are collected here for the first time in a highly personal "journal" chronicling Patterson's observations in real time.  Before long, thousands of Americans were reading Patterson's weekly descriptions of the campaign, a gauntlet without rules in which the projected psyches of the candidates reflected--and stirred--the roiling emotions of a substantially disgruntled electorate. Smart, prescient, funny, and deeply informed by extensive background research, these pieces form a narrative that captures the race as it occurred--the bald-faced lies, the painful truths, the pivotal issues, and the astonishing personalities that made the election of 2016 utterly unpredictable and uniquely consequential. Best of all, in marginalia scattered throughout the book Patterson looks back to see where he was right, where he was wrong, and where events were so beyond human experience that no one could have predicted them.

  • Jerroll Sanders Talks SCOTUS Petition For 2016 Election Revote w/ Shannon Fisher
While the world is paying attention to theatrical battles over President Trump’s executive orders and cabinet nominees, a largely unnoticed and potentially landmark case sits before the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States. A petition for a writ of mandamus seeking to nullify the results of the 2016 U.S. Presidential election sits on the SCOTUS docket.
In this show, Shannon Fisher talks to Jerroll Sanders, who wrote the petition and acted as the legal strategist for a group leading the charge on this case, which has been assigned docket number 16-907. For the few who are aware of the case, this interview should clear up some confusion caused by multiple filings and multiple groups offering support.
The main argument for the writ is that, per Article IV § 4 of the U.S. Constitution, it is the job of the federal government to keep U.S. territory safe from foreign invasion. The Constitution stipulates, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion.” The petition cites evidence of such an invasion, namely the Russian hacking, and asks that the entire 2016 election be nullified, all the way back to the primaries, on the grounds that cyber-territory in the U.S. was invaded with the intention of altering the results of our Presidential election. The petitioners seek an entirely new election.

  • David Swinson-music promoter, cop, best-selling author on Authors on the Air
Authors on the Air Host Pam Stack welcomes David Swinson, who has had a varied and exceptionally interesting career in punk music promotion, filmmaking, law enforcement and now, best-selling author.
Swinson also started a Wednesday night evening of conversation and spoken word at Bogart’s with luminaries such as Hunter S. Thompson, Dr. Timothy Leary, John Waters and Jim Carroll. After several years of booking, promoting, as well as developing lasting relationships with such people as Timothy Leary and Hunter S. Thompson, it was a natural segue to develop and co-produce Sound Bites from the Counter Culture for Atlantic Records in 1990. This spoken-word compilation featured writers, orators and politicians, including Thompson, Leary, Carroll, Abbie Hoffman, and Eugene McCarthy. Billboard called the album “essential listening.”  In 1990, while having drinks with Timothy Leary and friend Bill Stankey, an idea for an offbeat buddy film entitled “Roadside Prophets” was conceived. The film eventually found a home with FineLine Features and was distributed theatrically by New Line Cinema.
In 1994, Swinson pursued another passion – law enforcement. He returned to his home base of Washington DC, where he joined the Metropolitan Police Department.  Learn more at http://davidswinson.com/

  • Award-winning author Simon Wood talks about writing on Authors on the Air LIVE
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes Simon Wood to the studio for a lively chat about writing thrillers, racing cars, riding bicycles and his unique writing process.    From Simon's website:  Before becoming a full time author, I designed equipment that stopped oil rigs from leaking and kept drinking water clean, raced single seater cars in the UK, tried to cure my fears of heights by becoming a licensed pilot, and along with my wife, Julie, made ends meet by becoming a private investigator and going undercover in casinos to catch gambling cheats.   I didn’t entertain the idea of writing until I moved to America in 1998 and the now defunct Immigration and Naturalization Service is to blame. They took so long to process my permanent residency application that I found myself with a large amount of time on my hands and somewhere along the way, I tinkered with the idea of becoming a writer. There was one thing wrong with this flight of fancy, I’m dyslexic. Writing is difficult and reading is especially challenging. Thankfully, dyslexia doesn’t get in the way of my imagination. That being said, my understanding of rudimentary grammar and writing structure was poor to say the least—there are still a lot of grammatical terms writers and editors use that I have to look up in a dictionary. With Julie’s help, I put myself a self-taught, crash course on creative writing and let rip. That was dozen books and more than a hundred short stories ago.

  • Pilot, world traveler & author Philip Donlay visits Authors on the Air LIVE
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes pilot, world traveler and best-selling author Philip Donlay to the studio.  Here's a little about Phil's new book, SECONDS TO MIDNIGHT, due March 7th.    While on a routine Eco-Watch flight above northern Canada to study one of the most powerful solar flares in history, Donovan Nash and Michael Ross narrowly miss colliding with another aircraft—a Boeing 737 that's not supposed to be there. With the mysterious 737 trailing smoke, Donovan and Michael watch as the aircraft makes a crash landing on a frozen lake.     As the Boeing breaks through the ice and begins to sink, a figure escapes into the frigid water and manages to climb up onto the ice. Donovan reaches the lone survivor and it's a young woman. Just before she blacks out, she whispers a dire warning, "Don't let them know I'm alive..."    Seconds to Midnight plunges Donovan Nash and the Eco-Watch team into a fight for their lives. While Donovan searches for answers at the bottom of a frozen lake in Canada, his wife, Lauren, runs from operatives embedded in the top levels of the Russian government. With communications in the Northern Hemisphere crippled by the massive solar storm, Donovan, Michael, and Lauren battle for each second, as the clock ticks toward a possible Armageddon.
