This week on The Authentic Woman, Shannon’s guest is Laura Pedersen. The two will discuss Pedersen’s memoir, Life in New York, about three decades of living in New York City. We will discuss her hilarious trip down memory lane, incuding becoming – at age 20 – the youngest person to have a seat on the American Stock Exchange.
Pedersen writes for the New York Times. She penned the bestseller Play Money, as well as the highly regarded Buffalo Gal and Beginner's Luck. Also a playwright, Pedersen’s award-winning comedies and dramas have been performed in festivals and Off-Broadway.

  • David Corbett interviews Catriona McPherson LIVE on Authors on the Air
    LIVE interview.  http://www.blogtalkradio.com/authorsontheair/2015/12/19/david-corbett-interviews-catriona-mcpherson-live-on-authors-on-the-air
Guest Host David Corbett returns to speak with the incredible Catriona McPherson.  About Catriona:  A born swot, I finally left school at age thirty with a PhD in linguistics from Edinburgh University. Proper jobs have included banking (hopeless), library work in local studies and fine art (marvellous), and a short burst of academia (miserable). I'm now a full-time writer and hope never to have a proper job again. When not writing, I'm reading, gardening, cooking and baking, cycling in Davis, running through walnut orchards, getting to grips with this outlandish and enormous country (26 states visited so far) and practising an extreme form of Scotch thrift*, from eating home-grown food to dumpster-diving/skip-surfing for major appliances.  *when "making a living" as a writer, thrift helps a lot.  http://catrionamcpherson.com/.  About David Corbett: Ballantine purchased David's first novel, The Devil's Redhead. His follow-up, Done for a Dime was also broadly acclaimed was named a New York Times Notable Book. His third novel was Blood of Paradise. David's short fiction has also been widely praised. http://davidcorbett.com .

  • Author Chris Walter in the hot seat on Skid Row Chatter with host Tom Pitts
SKID ROW CHATTER host Tom Pitts gets Canadian author Chris Walter in the host seat on tonight's show.
Chris Walter, a recovering drug addict and hope-to-die punk rocker, began writing purposefully in 1998 after realizing that his life up to that point had been largely meaningless.  His first published novel, Punk Rules OK went largely unnoticed except by detractors, inspiring him to take a DIY approach to the game. He started GFY Press and began to write, publish, and distribute a steady stream of fiction novels and music biographies. In 2001, GFY Press expanded to include unschooled troublemakers Simon Snotface, Stewart Black, and an Australian, Drew Gates, drawing further criticism from the established literary industry. 16 years later, Chris Walter and GFY Press remain unrepentant and committed. Chris is the author of more than twenty-five books, many of which are also available electronically. He has also contributed to numerous publications including The Georgia Straight, Nerve, Razorcake,The Big Takeover, Mass Movement, Vice, Loud Fast Rules, and Absolute Underground.
Host Tom Pitts' short stories have been published in the usual spots by the usual suspects. His novella,PIGGYBACK, and his novel, HUSTLE, are available from Snubnose Press. His new novella KNUCKLEBALL is out now.  Tom is an acquisitions editor at Gutter Books and editor of Flash Fiction Offensive. http://tompittsauthor.com
