Authors on the Air Global Radio Network host Pam Stack welcomes thriller novelist James Hankins.  I truly enjoy having James visit the show. He's a savvy guest, a terrific writer and a wonderful guest host (listen to his podcast with Daniel Palmer).  Tonight we will discuss the craft of writing a thriller novel and James's writing process.  He will also talk about his current release, THE PRETTIEST ONE.  Here's a little synopsis:  "When Caitlin Sommers finds herself alone in a deserted parking lot with blood on her clothes and no memory of the past few months, it seems like one of the nightmares that have tormented her for years…but it’s all too real. Desperate to learn the truth about where she’s been and what has happened to her but terrified of what she may find, Caitlin embarks on a search for answers. Her journey takes her from the safe suburban world she knows to a seedy town she’s never heard of, where a terrible truth from her past lies hidden—a truth she can’t quite remember yet can’t completely forget." Authors on the Air host Pam Stack is honored to welcome crime fiction master, author Robert Crais to the studio in a rare interview about his new book, THE PROMISE.    In the mid-eighties, feeling constrained by the collaborative working requirements of Hollywood, Crais resigned from a lucrative position as a contract writer and television producer in order to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a novelist. His first efforts proved unsuccessful, but upon the death of his father in 1985, Crais was inspired to create Elvis Cole, using elements of his own life as the basis of the story. The resulting novel, The Monkey’s Raincoat, won the Anthony and Macavity Awards and was nominated for the Edgar Award. It has since been selected as one of the 100 Favorite Mysteries of the Century by the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association.  ELVIS AND JOE ARE BACK! This time they join forces with SUSPECT heroes Scott James and his K9 partner, Maggie, in RC's new novel, THE PROMISE.

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes Elise Sax, one of the funniest authors in contemporary romance today! Here's what she says about her life.  "I worked as a journalist, mostly in Paris, France for many years, but I always wanted to write fiction. Finally, I decided to go for my dream and write a novel. I was thrilled when An Affair to Dismember, the first in the Matchmaker Series, was sold at auction to Ballantine. Story ideas come to me day and night, and I'm inspired by my imagination and the news, especially weird news. I'm a plotter. I map out chapters, but sometimes characters have a mind of their own. That happened in book two of the Matchmaker Series, where it ended in a surprise. (Oh, have I divulged too much?)   To read more,go to her website at http://elisesax.com

This week, Shannon welcomes three women spearheading an effort to raise awareness of the dangers of the permanent birth control device Essure. Her guests are Angie Firmalino, founder the Essure Problems group; Amanda Dykeman, an administrator of the group; and Amanda Rusmisell, the group’s legislative liaison. The Essure Problems group has connected nearly 25,000 women who have had adverse reactions to the device.

This show will highlight the potentially fatal complications of the Essure device so women can make an informed decision about having the device implanted in their fallopian tubes. The device has garnered thousands of reports of autoimmune issues, adhesions and punctures of abdominal organs, excessive bleeding, severe pelvic pain, and even death. Erin Brockovich helped the Essure Problems group gain traction. There is now bipartisan legislation before Congress calling for the removal of Essure from the market introduced by Rep. Michael Fitzpatrick.
