Gretchen Hasse works in a variety of media. She is an accomplished video artist (and commercial videographer). Hasse also draws and makes multimedia collages, creating images of urban life. Her work draws on years spent writing stories--which she says she did before she ever began to draw. The work she does, be it video, photograph, drawing or collage has a narrative behind it. Her work includes videos for social justice groups. Much of the material she uses in her work incorporates recycled materials.

Mikey Peterson is a Chicago-based video-audio artist, singer-songwriter, and art educator. He creates experimental video art that focuses on distortion, organic abstraction and sound having shown work internationally at festivals including the Lucca Film Festival in Lucca, Italy, the STREETVIDEOART exhibition in Paris, France, the Video Art And Experimental Film Festival at Tribeca Cinemas in New York City, Audiovisioni Digitali in Ragusa, Sicily, and at the Performance Intermedia and DokumentART Festivals in Szczecin, Poland.  His work has shown at the Chicago Cultural Center, at the University of Chicago’s Smart Museum, the Armory Center For The Arts in Pasadena, California, and is exhibited on the Paris-based television channel, Art Television and the New York-based website, Videoart.net.

In a one gallon pitcher mix 2 cups of unsweetened ice tea.

Add 1 cup sugar and stir.

Mix in 1 12 oz. can frozen orange juice and 1 12 oz can frozen limeade. Stir until blended.

Pour in 1 750 ml bottle of your choice of Kentucky Bourbon and 7 cups of water.

Mix well and refrigerate until time to serve.

John Airo is a Chicago-based artist whose work often reflects the city--good, bad and ugly.  He is a multi-media artist who creates everything from comics to large scale public art. His work often has a political bent and while Chicago is his focus he is not afraid to move far afield from the city when there is a subject he feels needs attention.

Airo sometimes uses found objects to paint on. His Chicago Flags series uses such items. His work can be seen at a number of Chicago’s drinking and music establishments. His work can be dark, it can be colorful.

He will be one of seven artists featured at Mapanare's first art show, Constantly, Consuming Culture--The Art Show on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Opening reception begins at 6:30 pm.
