STRIVE WorldWIDE is a first-of-its kind online program to teach independent living skills to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. WIDE represents Welcoming Independence Diversifying Education. Online learning has become common in education, and for good reason: it offers learners the flexibility to learn at their own pace, allows the learner to schedule class time around their busy schedules, provides access to those in rural areas or with limited access to transportation, uses technology to make the content more accessible (such as closed captioning, audio, visual, recorded seminars, and more), and provides the “quiet learner” the opportunity to be heard. That’s why STRIVE is excited to offer this unique post-secondary programming geared specifically towards individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities! Champion Autism Network, Inc. (CAN) is a nonprofit autism awareness organization based in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. CAN was founded in 2012 by Becky Large, a business professional and mother of a child on the spectrum. CAN’s goal is to raise autism awareness, reduce criticism and judgment and help families with children on the autism spectrum develop a network of like-minded people and supports, locally and beyond.

The SCRC provides information about respite to families and professionals, strives to increase awareness among family caregivers of the necessity and benefits of regular time off from care giving duties, and advocates for legislation and policies which support state and local respite programs. We also offer family caregiver respite vouchers using state and federal funds allocated for that purpose. The mission of the SC Respite Coalition is to expand quality respite opportunities in South Carolina throughout the lifespan for South Carolina families who have a member with special needs.  The Coalition’s goals are to: Educate the general public and specific groups about the need for respite care. Develop strategies to provide and improve respite services for families. Provide support for families and providers through a coordinated information resources.
