A special needs trust is a legal arrangement and fiduciary relationship that allows a physically or mentally disabled or chronically ill person to receive income without reducing their eligibility for the public assistance disability benefits provided by Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Medicare or Medicaid. In a fiduciary relationship, a person or entity acts on behalf of another person or people to manage assets.

A special needs trust is a popular strategy for those who want to help someone in need without taking the risk that the person will lose their eligibility for programs that require their income or assets to remain below a certain limit.

Key West police handcuffing 8-year-old boy. A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against three Monroe County School District employees sued over a 2018 incident in which Key West police officers tried to handcuff an 8-year-old boy at his elementary school after he was accused of punching a teacher.

The use of functioning labels to describe an autistic's ability to function has been used for many years and is still used today. Functioning labels are predominantly used by non-autistic people to describe an autistic's ability to function in society, typically labeling them as either "high-functioning" or "low-functioning". I just wanted to let people know what these terms mean if you ever hear them.
