Avenue Red's 10-year celebrations ball keeps on rolling with a football match-length mix from Preston North End's numero uno fan, Tommy Harrison, who is one half of Quadrant Soundscape (as featured twice on the podcast series) and the awesome Dub Explorations show and long-running event of the same name. This time Tommy is performing under his Asphalt Layer alias, which he uses for his uber ninja production work and solo DJ'ing. Be sure to check his page out in the link below!

This is an impeccably constructed set of cosmic, pulsating deep techno, tech house, dub techno and more that gives a solid reflection of the kinds of sounds you will hear when he plays alongside his cohort Wilson Logan as Quadrant Soundscape at the next Avenue Red event at OverDraught, Manchester on Saturday 11/11/2023. Get involved if you can make it or have the power to teleport yourself there, which when listening to this totally sci-fi mix, you might feel you just about can do! Press play, get spaced.

"After a couple of solid Quadrant Soundscape mixes, I felt it was time for Asphalt Layer to grace the Avenue Red decks. I've known Alec for a good while now, and knowing him and his amazing mix series, its an honour and I know my records have found a very good home! For my mix, I went deep and groovy, lots of music I'm really digging currently and some I've been digging for a while. Peace!" Tommy Harrison, October 2023

DJ/artist Mist from Athens, Greece returns for his 5th contribution for Avenue Red, this time with an episode for our 10-year anniversary celebrations. True to form, here we have a CD-length mix of stormy, moody, hypnotic house and techno from one of our very finest resident operatives of the deep.

"I've been an avid listener of Avenue Red since it began in 2013 and contributed my first one to the series in 2015. For this new 10 years mix I mainly focused on deep house and dub techno. The trip begins with some groovy vibes that slowly makes your body start to unwind, then as we cut deeper in towards the end of the trip, the sound becomes darker and more hypnotic! Hope you enjoy the mix!" Elias Vourlias, October 2023

Our man Kyrro from France, currently residing in Amsterdam, returns to grace Avenue Red with his second dose of deepness - just in time for our 10-year anniversary celebrations. So, light a candle, pour yourself a drink, press play, and let yourself drift away for a blissful golden hour of deep house and dub techno sounds.

"I grew up in the nineties playing acoustic and electric guitar in solo projects and in a band. Thereafter I started experimenting with synthesizers and collecting records in electronic music.

As a sound designer based in the Netherlands I produce atmospheric and analogue soundscapes using hardware and instruments since more than a decade. Furthermore, I am constantly shaping deep and ambient aspects of electronic music into my sound through raw elements and keep exploring new possibilities in the musical spectrum.

I've been listening to the podcasts on Avenue Red for many years and appreciate its high quality sets in deep genres. This recorded session on vinyl with a touch of dub and house does tribute to this exclusive podcasts channel. Enjoy!" George Kury, September 2023

Lempuyang label boss and all-round top chap Alastair Kelly is back to assist in the 10 years of Avenue Red celebrations with his 3rd contribution to the platform. Another fine studio mix has been crafted for us on his native Isle of Wight in the south of England, this time a shiny and nostalgic deep house mix from the archives of his vast and very refined record collection.

"Lempuyang's lemur whisperer returns with a soundtrack for this glorious Indian summer. Get yourself a cold beer and a supernoodle sandwich to accompany. Bang up your boulevard, and without even buying you dinner first." Alastair Kelly, September 2023

Avenue Red was on recording duties as two of Manchester's finest oldskool house heads got together for a dig through the archives. This was at Damo B's long-running regular event, Nothing But The Truth held @ Eastern Bloc, Manchester from the hours of 22:00-03:00. This recording captures the proceedings after the first 40 minutes had passed by.

For those who don't know... Damo B is the presenter and producer of The Outta Limits Radio Show, exclusively on Manchester's Unity Radio 92.8 FM and online on www.unityradio.fm every Thursday night from 1am until 3am UK Time. "Techno, House and Electronica all up in the mix" is both the catchphrase and the solid gold truth. Damo also runs the burgeoning new label named Emotec, which has pressed EPs from MOY, BufoBufo, Auto Sound City and Rain & White Transit Van to date.

LHK (real name Liam Swarbrick) states that he is generally "retired" these years, but Damo helps to give him a platform on the odd occasion to keep his hand in the game. LHK released over 20 ace house records from 1998-2006 on cult labels including Glasgow Underground, Leeds label 20:20 Vision, Toronto label 83 West Records and the San Francisco-based Tango Recordings (run by fellow Mancunian Tony Hewitt), among other labels.

For the second of this 10-part sub-series to celebrate 10 years of Avenue Red, we welcome the Glasgow artist, DJ and all-round dub wizard known as Dubrovnik (UK). With a wealth of fine dub techno material released over the past 8 years, including an EP on Greyscale's magnificent Mood Series, the man Chris Currie has under his Dubrovnik (UK) moniker traced through a journey of his own unique sonic craft.

Relentless investment of time, energy and focus; ceaseless digging; learning and developing in the studio and out at gigs and shows etc. have all culminated in him distilling his own unique sound, as demonstrated in this exceptional Celtic vs Rangers match-length mix for Avenue Red. This is a session of exquisite deepness - a relentless, well-controlled onslaught of trippy, glacial, dubbed-out techno & house music.

"I've been an avid listener of Avenue Red for a long time, it's an honour to be asked to contribute to this wonderful series! For the mix, I've dug deep through the archives to give an after hours vibe - an early doors to late night floors feel from walking into a club and being taken on a journey as the music shifts through the moods & gears. Really hope you enjoy the mix!" Chris Currie, August 2023

5 years after his previous mix for Avenue Red, S&ro (real name Sandro Isler) is back to deliver his third contribution for us! In case you forgot or never knew, he is the co-owner of the Waehlscheibe label alongside fellow Avenue Red regular Alessandro Crimi over in Saint Gallen, Switzerland. After a relatively quiet spell, we gave Sandro a fresh project to push him back into digging through his awesome vinyl collection, reactivate his engines and get back into his typically insatiable groove. You know what button to press!

"Unfortunately I haven't been able to spin enough records lately. For Avenue Red, it's all the more a great pleasure for me. For the mix I let myself drift. Mostly something cosy, minimal, dreamy... sometimes something new, then something old swims by, sometimes there's a swirl. Housey and dubby overall, I hope you enjoy it as a whole." Avenue Red proudly welcomes the 6th contribution to the main podcast series from deep house & techno stalwart George Olaru from Bucharest, Romania. This time George is back to working solo under his new (and apparently final!) alias: George Heerd. Deep music head yourself?! Well, he never disappoints. So don't expect him to this time.

"I'm really glad to return with an episode for Avenue Red after probably 3 years, a period in which I never stopped digging and crafting my sounds to a better quality almost each day 🙂. Meantime I move from working as one of the Heerd duo to a solo project simply as George Heerd, and the 1st vinyl solo release is upcoming... not sure exactly when but I hope before end of 2023, at the latest. Genre-fluid with trippy atmosphere, this mix stands somewhere between dancefloor-oriented and laidback home listening. Hope you will enjoy this musical piece as much as I do when I recorded it! 🙂" George Olaru, Jun 2023
