  • Avenue Red Podcast #215 - Sputnik
Leeds electro boss Barry Duke AKA Sputnik is back for his second bite at the cherry for Avenue Red, deploying 100 minutes of military grade electro dancefloor slammers in a high-pressure, intensely attacking set. No prisoners.
"It's been over 3 years since my last Avenue Red mix, so I thought I'd record another one for Alec. Like my previous mix, this one is all electro. I predominately mix vinyl (and still buy it) but there's tons of great tracks that are digital only so every now and again I record a Traktor Scratch mix using control vinyl. There's a selection of old stuff like The Advent and Aux 88 mixed in with newer electro from the likes of N-TER, TFHats and the late great w1b0. I hope you enjoy the ride." Barry Duke, February 2023

  • Avenue Red Podcast #214 - Dott. Santafeo
Avenue Red proudly welcomes the mega productive, very talented Italian DJ / producer / sound designer / educator Dott. Santafeo (real name Leonardo Patrizi) for his debut on the main podcast series. A true warrior of the deep world, it is staggering how much this guy has created already - just take a glance at his SoundCloud profile (link below) and see the info section!
Here Leonardo has constructed a perfect and very naturally evolving journey that blends the finest, most sublime documents of deep, dubbed-out techno & house in an almost football match-length session of shimmering sonic gold.
"I think a perfect mix must have flaws, small imperfections are the jazz element, the human part, if well dosed, flaws are the best part of a good mix." Leonardo Patrizi, January 2023

  • Avenue Red Podcast #213 - Zach DeVincent
Pushing on into 2023 with some real purpose and grit, Avenue Red will keep the weekly momentum going strong with weekly releases. We have accumulated quite a backlog of truly delightful DJ mixes that must be discharged from the cannon! Next up after dubtommy's masterful and very well-received downtempo & trip-hop mix, we present a 1-hour session of perfectly chilled, deep, groovy house from Los Angeles-based DJ & producer, Zach DeVincent.
Also known for his trip-hop/downtempo productions as Zak Damundo on his 2017 album on Cold Busted, which was titled 3am, Zach has released his deep house tracks and remixes on a variety of other labels including Superordinate Dub Waves, 5 and Dime Recordings, Looq Records, ITOM, Acryl Music, Open Bar Music, Clear Recordings and Ban-Off Music. He is also a resident DJ/host of SWIM on Digitally Imported Radio (link below). And now, for your weekly mix update. One thing is for sure... this man has got the taste and sure knows how to flow!
"I compiled this mix specifically for the autumn/winter season, and each track has been curated to communicate the transcendence I experience when wandering the city streets during this time of year - specifically in NYC & LA. Avenue Red has been a part of my life for many years and I'm happy to contribute to this ongoing sound journey." Zach DeVincent, January 2023

  • Avenue Red Podcast #212 - dubtommy
Avenue Red welcomes the return of Amsterdam DJ & producer dubtommy for the first podcast episode of 2023! In under 2 weeks we are heading over the waters to attend the very exciting Stately Records vs Irenic label event being held at OOSTerBAR in Amsterdam, where we will bear witness to https://soundcloud.com/rogergerressen, Avenue Red resident selector https://soundcloud.com/alessandro_crimi and also dubtommy himself alongside his Stately label pal, Frederik.
This mix can be seen as the calm before the storm, as dubtommy whips up a whirlwind of dreamy downtempo, smoked-out trip-hop, kaleidoscopic bossa nova and liquid nujazz tracks.
"The start of a new year calls for a new DJ mix, this time going down in the tempo. Thanks to Alec Pritchard for hosting this one again, my 4th submission for his wonderful Avenue Red podcast series. Get lost in this maze of sound!" Tommy Lemmers, January 2023

  • Avenue Red Podcast #211 - Highdub
It's New Year's Eve 2022 and Avenue Red accordingly steps up to present something special for the occasion: one of the top dogs of the Mexican deep house/dub techno scene... enter Highdub (real name Diego Ramirez). An events curator, promotor, music collector and an experienced DJ, Highdub has delivered for us a perfectly mixed, intelligently compiled hour-long session of dub-infused techno & deep house tracks. Something fresh and positive to illuminate our ears and minds as we see over the horizon across the as-yet undefined ocean that is 2023.
"In this episode you will have the pleasure of enjoying a dub techno and minimal set specially recorded for the great Avenue Red Podcast. I currently reside in the magical town of San Miguel de Allende, central Mexico, a cosmopolitan place full of art and colonial architecture. With more than 10 years of experience, I am one of the precursors and pioneers of the dub techno scene throughout Mexico. Enjoy the trip." Diego Ramirez, December 2022

  • Avenue Red Podcast #210.1 - Alastair Kelly
Avenue Red is proud to present a pair of masterful deep/dub techno mixes created by Alastair Kelly, who comes from the seaside town of Ryde on the north edge of the Isle of Wight, just a few miles off England's south-central coast.
Alastair is the man behind the awesome Lempuyang label, which goes from strength to strength as it builds out its impressive roster of luminaries in the deep/dub techno sphere. Lempuyang has pressed and dispatched new weapons-grade materials from many of Avenue Red's most beloved artists, having clocked up 10 releases since the label's inception in late 2021.
These artists include some of our previous guests and good friends: OHM, Octal Industries and Hydergine; Manchester's Vinyl Exchange record shop boss and artist J.S. Zeiter; Mosaic label boss Steve O'Sullivan AKA Bluetrain; Icelandic legend Yagya; Japanese artist Altone; Moscow artist Anton Kubikov; Canadian dub techno specialist Deadbeat and mysterious mad hatter Sa Pa, among others.
It's truly staggering how far this label has come in 1 short year! These two mixes from Alastair help to colour in the picture of his inspirations and trace how these roots extend to the shoots of his flourishing new imprint, along the way showcasing some of the sublime material it has released so far. And now for part 2...
"A pair of mixes from Lempuyang's chief consumer of hot drinks and bread-based snacks. Here for part 2 we have 100 minutes of unrelenting techno rhythms, a bit harder than Avenue Red's usual offering. I suggest this pairs nicely with 4 shots of espresso and a garlic bread. No nonsense on this one, but it's still deep as fuck." Alastair Kelly, December 2022

  • Avenue Red Podcast #209 - Josh Lentink
Avenue Red presents the 8th contribution from London-based, soon to be Manchester-based selector, Josh Lentink! Here Josh has laid down a moody, autumnal brew of trip-hop, obscure electronica, twisted industrial and cavernous drone records, adding further diversity to his already vast repertoire of sonics prepared for Avenue Red over the last 8 years.
"I dug into some different records for this mix, lots of stuff I've been listening to at home lately. Andy Stott, Space Afrika and Rat Heart are all featured, also some sounds from Manchester, where I'll be moving to in the new year alongside Alec @ Avenue Red HQ! I paired them with some mellow drum and dub cuts from the likes of Valentino Mora & Ron Boots. The mix finishes with some beautiful organ drone by Sara Davachi. For me it's perfect music for this time of year." Josh Lentink, December 2022

  • Avenue Red Podcast #208 - 6047
Avenue Red presents a DJ by the name of 6047 (real name An Ho) from the city of San Bernardino, California, where the eastern side of the sprawling Los Angeles metropolitan area meets the San Bernardino mountains and national forest. He has provided us with a deep house masterpiece mix that, quite unusually for us, is entirely composed of material from one of his favourite netlabel compilations. The end product is beautifully crafted and fits our bill perfectly.
"This mix is a compilation mix of Croatian based Luna The Cat's Winter Love 1 compilation. The following tracks were selected to create a cohesive sound and journey." An Ho, November 2022

  • Avenue Red Podcast #207 - Glik & Arts
Avenue Red proudly presents Glik & Arts, an intensive digger duo from Moscow and Minsk respectively. These guys have created a mega fresh, impeccable 2-hour vinyl mix of deep, trippy, minimal house & techno that really shines brightly. Not a single foot is put wrong in a stunningly well-crafted set that seems to have a voice all of its own.
"We are the curators of the Minsk broadcast Deep Arts on radio Plato, a duo of vinyl diggers who have proven ourselves over the past three years as connoisseurs of rare material. In our sets you can hear the dark minimal and the dub Detroit sounds blended into something fresh.
We say this: we do not consider this a hobby or hold some desire to break through the underground culture, for us it is more an art where the idea is of listening deeply and learning our own philosophy of sound." Ruslan Huzaev & Artyom Savitsky, November 2022
