Avenue Red

We welcome the second coming of Farbian, a Berlin-based selector and curator from the Stuck Collective with a powerful 2-hour workout of pulsating, deep, dubby, dreamy house & techno.

"In my new mix I wanted to create a fitting combination of dub and dreamy tracks with funky influences. I use a lot of tracks that have just been released, but also tracks that have been in my record case for years and are always special to me. This also includes tracks that I have produced myself together with a friend of mine. I can't think of a more fitting place for a release than the Avenue Red series." Farbian, October 2022

Avenue Red welcomes our first ever Brazilian guest to the main podcast series - enter MF with an eclectic selection of musical styles woven together into a very unique tapestry of his own. What we have here is quite reminiscent of the Ninja Tune approach to putting sets of music together but with clever inclusions of the kind of dubbed-out house & techno elements that we are always fond of hearing.

"You are listening to Marcelo Frota AKA MF, a Brazilian born in Rio de Janeiro. An avid music collector who has already shown his atomic arsenal in several countries around the world. Variations of breakbeat, house, Chicago house, classics and exclusive songs never released. I have always admired the Avenue Red channel for its musical quality so I made sure to provide something totally exclusive and authentic. Travel in this sound experience!" Avenue Red is proud to present a sublime hour-long mix of deep, dubby house & techno from DJ Joshua, who hails from Setúbal, a coastal town that is part of the metropolitan area of Lisbon, capital city of Portugal.

"This mix was recorded especially for Avenue Red and covers sounds from more expressive and ambient tracks, evolving to something more mental and strong techno. Then going through the middle for some things a little softer and more delicate. It's like a reflection or a mirror of what I've always absorbed from electronic music and the way I feel and express it in my works as a DJ. An example of this is my two weekly radio shows with two different aspects but that at a certain point can cross and also the other participations and collaborations that I do whenever possible.

Thank you so much Alec for this opportunity to spread and share good music. That is always my main purpose. Enjoy this little trip! I leave here the complete tracklist below ;)" Joshua Mar, September 2022

Parisian sleepy deep house maestro Caillou is back for his 3rd mix for Avenue Red.

"Thanks Alec for the opportunity to contribute to Avenue Red. This is the Sleephouse vol.2 mixtape. Similarly to the previous ones on Avenue Red, I tried to record a mix you can take a nap to with records that I have played over the last years on actual dance floors (usually at ridiculous hours though...). All certified daydreaming material / nap time bangers from all around the world.

Special thanks to Rai Scott and Stephan Laubner who have trusted us with their music for our new label, Chateau Chépère. It was a dream come true to work with you. Keep an ear out for the next releases from more deep house heroes.

And if you're in Paris come to our next all day party on Sunday Sept 25 @ La Peniche Cinéma w/ the www.instagram.com/duty__free_/ crew and the wonderful owners of Le Gram VG record shop, Oscar VG & Anais Liro.

Here's the tracklist of the tape, big up to all the artists and labels that keep it deep and dreamy.

Long-time Avenue Red resident selector Rubsilent from Istanbul, Turkey makes his 9th contribution to our imprint in as many years to keep the momentum going strongly for the BIG 200! This ~100-minute-long mix is textbook Rubsilent, delving into his deep vinyl collection to pull out a wide spectrum of the finest house & techno selections, spanning from the inception of the genres to the present day. Keep notes - all DJ's can learn many things from this seasoned pro of the underground.

"Between a day job work schedule and adapting myself to parenthood in mid-40's, life no longer allows me to spend as much time as I want on the decks at home. As the priorities are straightened I struggle with finding the inspiration and motivation to record a mix to tell a story these days and if the mix wouldn't tell a story I see no point of sharing it with people for being connected. After about 6 months of not recording a mix other than a few local gigs here and there, exchanging some messages with Alec on social media got me inspired to put a session together. Here you may hear that selection of old and new tracks mixed in one go on my home set up. It was a smooth effortless one-go ride for me - I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed playing these records!" Hamza Solim AKA Rubsilent, June 2022

Avenue Red proudly welcomes the debut podcast episode from producer, DJ and label boss Rai Scott, who is based in the Scottish capital city of Edinburgh. Rai is one half of 2DeepSoul together with her partner in life and music, Brad Peterson - a fellow deep head and master craftsman who did Podcast number 021 for us 8 years ago! Together they run the excellent label Inner Shift Music.

As well as releasing on their own imprints the duo have their music unleashed across a fine array of respected underground labels including Ornate Music; Echocentric Records; Church; Minuendo Recordings; Andy Vaz's label, Yore Records; Altered Moods Recordings; and most recently Rai created the opening release of Avenue Red resident selector Caillou's new upcoming label, Chateau Chepère.

For her instalment of the BIG 200 Rai has created a CD-length vinyl mix of raw, soulful, jazzy, deep, groovy house music with some eclectic, eyebrow-raising twists at the finale. Here we have such a truly sublime, tasteful and classy selection mixed with a wonderfully organic touch. We expected nothing less.
