Acts 8:26-40 | Rev. Dr. R. Brandon Harris | The mission of the church is not confined to personal salvation, individual holiness, or private faith. The Lord is sending the church into God-forsaken places to extend the promise and hope of salvation to those who have long been far off from God's love.

Acts 6:8-7:1, 51-60 | Rev. Dr. R. Brandon Harris | To bear witness can involve pointing, storytelling, or describing. But, the church's witness-bearing is embodied. As temples of God's Holy Spirit, we become the present incarnation of his word, the signs and instruments of his transforming presence in the life of our community, and the embodied testament to his own proclamation that not even death holds any power against the God of salvation. Such a means of witness can and should consume every fiber of our being.

Acts 4:32-35 | Rev. Dr. R. Brandon Harris | Human communities are often built along the lines of the haves and the have-nots. But, the resurrection of Jesus obliterates the significance of even the deepest of these divisions. Jesus came that all might have life and have it abundantly, and the resurrection of Jesus is the downpayment on that promise. When the church takes resurrection seriously, it will reflect in all layer of its communal life (social, economic, political, etc.) the obliteration of these boundaries.

Acts 3:1-10 | Rev. Dr. R. Brandon Harris | Disease and sickness are among the greatest threats to human wellbeing. Likewise, the healing of illness, the empowerment of the dispossessed and downtrodden, and the making-whole of human persons is among the greatest signs that God's kingdom is breaking into our lives. Wherever the church exists, it will be proclaiming and working for the wellbeing and wholeness of individuals.

Brandon Harris | As Jesus prepares to ascend into heaven, he promises his disciples that they will be clothed with a new power, a power from on high, and that this power will empower them to change all the world. This is the purpose and mission of the church, the transformation of the world, and that purpose begins in us.

Philippians 1:3-11 | Rev. Dr. R. Brandon Harris | The first aspect of our mission as disciples is one of growth. Discipleship involves increasing conformity to the master who calls us. God desires that we should grow in faith so that we can be "pure and righteous, having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God" (vv. 10-11).
