  • S1 | E39 - 2023 Wrap Up and What’s In Store for 2024

Welcome to the Awake and Sober podcast, A podcast about Life in Recovery through Christ.

On this episode we will be wrapping up 2023 and looking towards 2024!

We will be discussing the year in review and talk about what we are bringing to you in 2024, including our Step Series. We will be going through the 12 Steps, 1 per month, starting with Admitting we were powerless and life was unmanageable.

We hope you enjoy the show!

A mainstay of our recovery stories is being completely honest with our support teams but, most importantly, honest with ourselves. How do we do that?

The answer is simple: we journal about our experiences, ideas, and goals. If you are anything like us, that means you journal A LOT and take a bunch of notes, so don't you deserve a great writing instrument?

We think you do, and so does the sponsor of the Awake and Sober Podcast Tactile Turn.  If you want one of these incredible writing tools, click on the link, pick out your favorite pen or pencil, and type in SOBER15 at checkout for the discount code, and you are on your way! If you have yet to use a Tactile Turn pen, let's be honest: are you even writing?!?

If you are struggling with a behavioral health crisis or suicidal ideation and need to talk with someone, please call or text 988. You can also chat with someone online at 988lifeline.org

In this episode, we are joined by Kristina who gives us some great insight on Trusting the Process.

When we get into recovery whether it be in the world of mental health, substance abuse and often both, we want things to start happening fast!

On this episode we will discuss the importance of slowing down and giving ourselves some grace. We have come so far in a little amount of time! let's face it, accepting that we have an issue or problem can be one of the hardest things we ever do.

We need to take it easy, be patient, and find people that can help guide us through our process, or program of recovery.

All of us started somewhere, we weren't made perfect, we were made human, capable of making mistakes but also capable of rectifying those mistakes and become better for them.

We will discuss what it means to trust the process, how that might look in a program, and how to engage in the process in a healthy manner which gives us the best chance of success!!!

Please send us your testimony, and we will choose one of our lucky subscribers to send a brand-new Tactile Turn pen!!! Our sponsor, Tactile Turn, has provided us with excellent products that we want to spread the word about!!!

How our friendships have changed from being in active use to being in recovery. We will also touch on the types of friendships that we look for, as opposed to friendships we have settled for in the past.

We understand that when we get into recovery a lot of things have to change. We know that some of the time we have to let certain people go that once held a strong place in our heart, and it can be hard to let them go. We will discuss what it means to nurture new relationships and how to let go of the friendships that may hinder our progress in our recovery program.

WELCOME!!! To the Awake and Sober podcast, a podcast about life in recovery through Christ.

We have a GIVEAWAY starting this week!!! Please send us your testimony, and we will choose one of our lucky subscribers to send a brand new Tactile Turn pen!!! Our sponsor, Tactile Turn, has provided us with excellent products that we have to spread the word about!!!

For this giveaway, you must Like, Share, and be a Subscriber to our podcast!!!

In this episode, we talk about the nature of resentments, how they start, and how we can move past them.

We will go over how to identify if we are being resentful, how our relationships are affected, and how letting go of resentments can help alleviate stress, anxiety, and even physical health issues.

We also dive into the causes of resentments, including but not limited to betrayal, infidelity, lack of trust, unresolved conflicts, and unmet emotional needs.

All of us here at A&S deal with resentment and the aftermath in our careers and personal lives almost on a daily basis. We try to recognize and identify the best courses of action. Most of the time, we suggest seeing a therapist and getting to the root causes of the resentment at hand, identifying our own personal growth goals, and enacting a plan in order to better prepare us for when those resentful thoughts and emotions start to pop up.

  • S1 | E30 - Finding Joy in the Midst of a Bad Headspace - audio

Welcome back to the Awake and Sober Podcast!

This week we talk about finding joy in the midst of a bad headspace. What is a bad headspace? How does one fall into a bad headspace? How can one cope while dealing with a bad headspace? Finally, Ho does one get out of a bad headspace?

Every person on this show, host and guest alike, has dealt with some form of a bad headspace throughout life in active substance abuse, also in a life full of recovery. Mindsets like these do not discriminate. No matter where you come from or what you're doing in your life, a bad headspace can grab you and try to keep you inside yourself, alone and cut off from all forms of support.

On this episode we will talk about what we do in our lives of recovery in hopes that you can learn from our experiences, strength, and hope.

We hope you enjoy the episode and don't forget to email us at [email protected] for any information or questions you might have!

  • S1 | E32 Gratitude - Happy Thanksgiving audio

WELCOME to The Awake and Sober Podcast!!!

On this episode we will be talking about what it means to live life with an attitude of Gratitude. A lot of times when situations in life and in recovery get tough, we often forget what's going RIGHT in our lives.

We will discuss what it means to be truly Grateful, how to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, as well as remaining mindful and present in situations that we feel uncomfortable in.

Everyone has a past and most, if not all, wish that we could change the outcomes of what happened. Instead of trying to change the past, we practice being grateful for the trials and struggles because they led us to where we are today.

Practicing gratitude involves intentionally acknowledging and appreciating the positive aspects of our lives in the midst of challenges.

We hope that our episode today will help you stay more present and aware of all of the positive aspects in your life, while also learning to begin the process of letting go!

We truly appreciate all of the feedback we receive from our viewers, and don't forget to enjoy the small things during this holiday season!
