  • Monogold | B-Side
Monogold is a Brooklyn based band whose "Strange Wave" style seems to flow seamlessly thru the familiar and unfamiliar at all times. This couldn't be more apparent than on the 6th release of the "Babyfood" LP, released Sept 29th via Chill Mega Chill records. Consistently morphing sounds and styles each, release is something surprising and signature. Always staying conceptual in the music, artwork and videos they do, their art continues to evolve with each new venture.

  • Lee Hogans | B-Side
By maintaining an aggressive path of musical study and professional achievement, W. Lee Hogans has fashioned a distinct musical style. He formed his own band Pursuance in 2004. His songs, featuring strong grooves with catchy melodies, encompass the worlds of Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Soul. Stylistic influences range from Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard to James Brown and Run DMC. Lee recently signed to the Japanese record label P-Vine and released his second album with Pursuance entitled What We Play is Life. WWPIL hit the market in 2015, reaching 2nd place on the Japanese iTunes charts just behind Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. Lee Hogans and Pursuance has also dazzled audiences at many destination venues throughout New York and New Jersey, including the famous Blue Note jazz club, where the band is in residency backing up Hip Hop legends like Prodigy, Masta Ace, and Grand Puba.

  • Uni Ika Ai | B-Side
Uni Ika Ai [pronounced: oo¬-nee ee¬kuh eye] is a Brooklyn based dream¬pop / art¬pop band comprised of music veterans Maia Friedman (Bobby), Peter Lalish (Lucius, Elizabeth & The Catapult), Tom Deis (Via Audio), and Dan Drohan. The band's debut album, Keeping A Golden Bullseye In The Corner of My Mind, incorporates elements of experimentalism, psychedelic haze, and eclectically unique pop -- a "rhythmic, wonderfully askew brand of ethereal pop" (Stereogum) that The Wild Honey Pie says is a "new kind of off-kilter dream pop that the genre has been waiting for."

  • Ehiorobo | B-Side
Ehiorobo is an alternative R&B/electronic vocalist and producer from New Jersey. Through combining his soulful, multi-faceted songwriting style with bouncy jazz-tinged electronic production, Ehiorobo’s live show is an undeniably danceable, yet intimate roller coaster ride that’s transitioned into a dynamically high-octane full band experience equipped with experimental textures and roots in jazz/soul. Having released his debut-album, ‘limeade’, through the internet label DESKPOP at the top of 2016, his stylings have already garnered nods from taste-curators like Vice Magazine’s THUMP, The Needle Drop, Vice’s Noisey Spain, Nest HQ, Impose Magazine, and a feature on Indie Shuffle’s ‘Best Indie/Experimental Pop of 2016’ list. The east coast based off-kilter r&b vocalist is gearing up to release his highly anticipated sophomore LP in early 2018.

  • Keyon Harrold | B-Side
Hailed as “the future of the trumpet” by Wynton Marsalis, the GRAMMY-winning musician was born and raised in Ferguson, MO, the St. Louis suburb that tore into America’s national consciousness in 2014 with the police shooting of Michael Brown. The unarmed teen’s death, as well as the bitter protests and riots that followed, weigh heavily on Harrold’s stunning new album, ‘The Mugician,’ but the record examines our troubled times through a far wider lens than any one tragedy, combining cutting, insightful lyrics and spoken word passages with evocative, often-heartbreaking musical arrangements to paint a portrait of a deeply divided nation, one still grappling daily with the raw, open wounds of discrimination.
Culture shock hit Harrold hard at 18, when he left Ferguson for New York City to enroll in The New School. In New York, he landed his first major gig performing with Common, an experience which he says broadened his musical horizons beyond the jazz and swing he’d been studying to include funk, Afrobeat, R&B, and hip hop. It didn’t take long for the wider world to catch on to Harrold’s singular talent, and soon he was performing onstage and in the studio with stars like Snoop Dogg, Jay Z, Beyonce, Rihanna, Eminem, Maxwell, and Anthony Hamilton.

  • Rebelmatic | B-Side
Firmly rooted in New York's Punk and Hardcore ancestry, Rebelmatic has self-sworn hip-hop purists, moshing alongside skate punks. They've got the respect of the legion of hardcore kids stashed away in the wilds of Brooklyn and Long Island. They can cast a wide net, with successful results because their personal brand of Brooklyn rock has more NY hard-knocks authenticity than most. Despite their NY pedigree the band's sound is a trippy "what-if" game. More pointedly, imagine The Doors making a hardcore album…except Jim Morrison isn't a privileged college kid feigning otherwise, but an offspring of the Corona slums…the wild mane now dreadlocks, and the jazz organ abandoned in a vacant lot.
Group frontman, Creature, is a virtual General on New York's alt-scene. His packed and sweaty Fire Your Boss and Coffee Grind showcases have acted as the true vanguard of alternative urban arts in recent years. A haven for those who are about the band…not the bandwagon. He's single handedly created a scene that thrives outside the scope of the hipster dreamland…yet manages to flirt relentlessly with it…sizing it up for a cheap date. This is raw music for real people. Its unrelenting, brutal and touching all at once.
