I see you, I see the mom who has a hard time making friends. I see you having a difficult time trying to get it all done. Trying to hold it all together while not falling apart. I see the working moms that wish they were home, and the home moms that wish they were working. Nothing about being a mom is easy. It’s a hard, often thankless job, that consumes you. Yet it has the most amazing moments.
I’ve been contemplating this article for a while, because I see post after post and blog after blog. I finally decided that I can’t be the only one that feels this way. Maybe you're another mom or maybe you're a friend or family member, but maybe this is exactly how you feel too. This is not my typical article, but I needed someone to write it. If you are a mom that relates to the blogs and posts about it being hard to be a SAHM or a mom without friends (you know the ones). Give it a break. Parenting is not easy, and if it is you are doing it wrong, but you need to shut up already about it being hard, about staying home moms having it rough. About how no one understands what it’s like to be a stay at home mom, or no one understands what it’s like to not fit in with other moms. People do understand, you’re not special. You’re an adult. I read these posts about how women feel so alone and how no one understands, and the 700 comments that follow are, “OMG that’s me.” Well sister, guess you aren’t really in that “no one understands” category after all. What that tells me is you aren’t connecting. If there are 700 other women, just like you, then maybe you need to take some initiative and learn how to make friends. Reach out to these other women, communicate. Make an effort.
I see people say they didn’t choose to be a stay at home mom and I get that. Currently with the age gap in my kids, I would be paying to work for corporate America. However, I did choose to have kids, I decided by giving birth that I would be responsible for another human being. I respect the hell out of anyone who decides that having kids isn't for them because they are honest about themselves and their situation. ...
