Jesus invites the weary and burdened to come close to Him, promising rest for their souls. It’s an invitation to lay down our burdens. To take up His yoke and learn a new way to carry life’s weight. Like the woman Jesus healed in Luke 13, we can become weighed down, bent over, and lose sight of our identity as beloved people. Jesus says, “Come quickly…and surrender.” That means releasing our illusion of control and trusting Jesus with what we were never meant to carry. It’s not a one-and-done, though. Through repeated surrender, stillness, and nearness to Jesus, we learn to live freely, lightly, and within His “unforced rhythms of grace.”
