Our third episode finds us focusing on Batman! We’re not trying to cover all bases, here, so before you dig out your Detective Comics #27, please breathe deeply (in space). We had all just seen The Dark Knight Rises, so there’s a lot of that, and a lot of the Nolan trilogy in general. We love these movies, and I think it shows in our discussion.
My YouTube-fu is inferior to Lindsay’s, and TDKR doesn’t seem to be parceled out into the internet yet, so I’m not going to be able to make most of these things into clips. I’ll do my best though! Here’s some of the things we talk about this time around:
1. Bane’s voice
2. Post 9/11 Batman as lens for the economic crisis
3. House Greyjoy’s sigil as evil ovaries:
4. The prison chant, “deshi basara”
5. Thematic echoes across Nolan’s Batman universe
6. Talia al Ghul/Miranda Tate vs Selina Kyle
7. More of No. 2 – Batman and Capitalism, TDKR predicting #Occupy, the theme of consequences
8. 80’s/ Recession chic

PS No really – how can I marry Bane? I want this to happen to my life.
In our second episode, we turn our babely attentions to princesses in genre and contemplate their roles and portrayals across genre media. Disclaimer- we do not want bad things to happen to Sansa Stark, we just don’t get how she has avoided greater misfortune given the company she keeps. Also, we totally forgot Mulan even though she is THE BEST Disney Princess by far.
Here’s your typically incomplete list of media discussed in this podcast.
1. The Little Mermaid
2. Sleeping Beauty
3. Cinderella
4. Beauty and the Beast
5. Pocahontas
6. A Song of Ice and Fire
7. Game of Thrones (TV)

PS I decided, upon review of this podcast, to save my vision statement writing for the prestigious and exclusive Evil Queen fellowship program.
In our inaugural episode, we Babes work through our issues with modern vampirism. Fangs will penetrate, bosoms will heave, heads will roll.
