In this weeks episode, Kelly is joined by team member Hayley. In this deeply emotional episode, they talk openly about baby loss, baby funerals and the painful lack of information many families face during the most unimaginable time of their lives.

Making Miracles Charity, who will also be appearing on ITV Regional News this week (19th - 23rd January 2026), to discuss funerals for babies born under 24 weeks’ gestation. Currently, the Children’s Funeral Fund does not cover funerals under 24 weeks, leaving grieving parents facing not only overwhelming emotional pain but unexpected financial pressure.

No parent ever expects to plan or make decisions about their baby’s or child’s funeral. Yet for many, these decisions come with confusion, isolation, and a lack of clear guidance on what options are available.

This episode explores:

• The emotional and financial burden of baby loss
• The gaps in support for families experiencing loss under 24 weeks
• How grief can resurface unexpectedly when navigating funeral arrangements
• Why access to clear information and choice matters

We believe every baby is loved and valued, no matter the gestation, and every family deserves dignity, compassion and support.

We also highlight the incredible work of John Weir Local Funeral Services (Kent), who offer free funerals for children aged 0–16, showing how community support can make a meaningful difference.

In this week’s episode Kelly welcomes Louise to the podcast. Louise bravely shares her story of stillbirth and the sudden, traumatic loss of her baby, Silky. What began as early labour quickly turned into every parent’s worst nightmare when, in the birthing suite, Silky’s heartbeat became difficult to locate. Within moments, Louise and her husband Bruce were told their baby had died. The cause was a placenta abruption, Louise had no warning signs and no symptoms.

Louise opens up about the raw aftermath of loss: the fear of their relationship breaking down, the pressure of grief and how she instinctively stepped into a supportive role to protect Bruce and ease his pain, often at the expense of her own. Louie talks about how together, they are both trying to navigate the complex reality of grief as individuals while also trying to grieve as a couple, something Louise describes as one of the hardest parts of their journey.

Louise also speaks honestly about her anxiety around returning to work while still on maternity leave, the fear of change and the uncertainty and anxiety surrounding the possibility of trying to conceive again.

This episode is a powerful reminder that there is no timeline for grief. Louise reflects on the importance of cherishing memories, including Silky’s memorial casts (funded by Making Miracles) and finding a way forward, one step at a time.

On this weeks episode Kelly follows on from episode 5 Validation Part 1 by exploring all the feelings that were mentioned.

For many, validation is also about self-permission and giving yourself the right to grieve openly or privately, to remember anniversaries, to challenge someones behaviour or maybe  to understand what you are feeling and why?

Baby loss changes a person. It reshapes who you are, your relationships and you may feel lost in a world you once knew. Kelly openly talks about each emotion you may feel and allows you to explore and maybe understand a bit more about what's happening.

Remember, validation doesn't mean fixing these emotions but it does allow them to exist without judgement.

On this weeks episode Kelly explores the importance of validation after baby loss, the validation of your grief, your feelings and your experience. 

How often do we ask “How am I?” Today, we turn toward that question with honesty and compassion.

Kelly talks about what it really means to take responsibility for our own wellbeing, not in a heavy or blaming way, but in a nurturing and empowering way. Healing has to start with us: with the way we speak to ourselves, the care we offer our minds and bodies and the small steps we take each day to look after our own hearts.

Maybe it’s time to reflect on how we can become better at self-care during grief and what it might look like to support ourselves with kindness rather than pressure.

You’ll also be guided through a short, simple exercise designed to gently involve you in the process, this will help you check in with yourself and acknowledge what you need right now, especially as the Christmas period is fast approaching. 

This episode is a reminder that your grief is yours and you are worthy of care, compassion and space as you navigate your “new normal”.

On this weeks episode Kelly welcomes Ruby to the podcast. Ruby joins us all the way from the South of France and shares her journey through birth trauma, and the loss of her son, Otto. 

At 35 weeks, Ruby experienced an emergency C-section after a rare uterine rupture, events that left her in complete shock, fighting both mental and physical pain. Her son, Otto, was born with severe brain damage, unable to breathe on his own and facing a life of constant suffering. With love as the guiding force, Ruby and her partner made the heartbreaking decision to let him go, choosing to carry the pain so he wouldn’t have to.

This podcast is a space to honour Otto’s brief but beautiful life and to speak openly about neonatal loss, traumatic birth and the unanswered questions that follow. Ruby and Kelly discuss feelings of guilt and about the “what ifs,” the invisible weight of rare complications and the importance of listening to our instincts. 

Ruby’s mission is to collect comprehensive information from families affected by uterine rupture, with the goal of improving early detection and prevention.

Above all, this is a story about surviving the unthinkable, learning to be gentle with yourself and finding strength in vulnerability.

On the week's episode Kelly welcomes Tayler to the podcast, who is all the way from the USA.

After experiencing the unimaginable pain of two stillbirth, Nori Jane and Sylvie Bea, Tayler shares her journey through grief. As a trained counsellor and therapist, she found herself on the other side of support facing not only the loss of her babies but also the loss of friendships, family connections, financial stability and tested her relationship with her husband.

In this deeply personal podcast, Tayler opens up about the emotional and physical aftermath of stillbirth and wants to raise awareness on how the body continues to react as though a baby has arrived, how impossible the decisions around medical testing can feel and how hearing the words “there’s no heartbeat” changes everything.

Through honest reflection and heartfelt conversations, she explores what it means to live with grief, rebuild identity and find some hope and joy for the future.

Tayler's experience of two stillbirths is extremely rare and she would like to support or connect with anyone that has experienced the same.

Jack manages the team in memory of his daughter, Harper, and in this episode he opens up about the journey he and his partner, Melissa, have been through and what the team truly means to them.

The MMCT provides not only a space for fun and football, but also a place of support. Importantly, it’s open to everyone, whether you’ve experienced baby loss or simply want to stand alongside and support the charity.

With big ambitions for the future, Jack shares his hopes of growing the team and raising as much awareness and support as possible, all while doing something he loves.
