Episode 36 – To many, Jake Akers did not have a “Snowball’s Chance in Hell” to lead a productive life, much less an accomplished one. Jake's teachers continually telling him he would not amount to much, coupled with multiple back injuries, doctors said he would never walk again, Jake had a choice to make. He could accept what his teachers and doctors told him, or he could do whatever it took to prove them wrong.
In this podcast, Jake tells his story. With the support of loving parents and the Buda community, he beat the odds. Drawing from his Hispanic heritage from his mom's side, Jake developed a strong work ethic and learned about flavors, foods, and spices. Jake’s dad taught him perseverance and the sense of determination to succeed no matter the odds, and the importance of always helping those in need.
After being told all his life he did not have a Snowball’s Chance, today, Jake Akers owns a small, shaved ice business named “A Snowball’s Chance.” His story does not end there. Listen to the podcast to find out how Jake is continuously helping others and paying it forward.
