Lastly, a transmission from my ancestor, my great great great long time ago old generations relative, Pete Gaynorstradamus. Appearing from the distant past, and unrelated to the famed prognisticator,  he enjoys Nostradamus's work as well as picking football games against the spread. My family must have Americanized the name at some point. Uncle Pete calls in with his picks. 

That's right. 

I understood the suffering as well as possible and identified the packaged wisdom that it carried. 

There was something in there that I knew but I didn't know yet. 

But instead of suppressing the suffering and PoWeRiGn THroOuGhb I decided to stop, rest, and analyze it.  

Then I used the little "aha" gift to correct a maladaptive behavior or thought that I had. The suffering was the gift wrap of relief.  I opened it, which took effort. My alternative was to stick it in the vault, unattended to, forever. I chose present action. Really I just thought about, actually, because analysis is thought, but maybe I wrote it down so it was technically action. Or I said it out loud. So then my physical body did work, i.e., action. Ok.

I used the suffering to destroy the suffering. 

Today I'm in out in the field, talking about strength. Big day.

Tom and I have had enough of the bunk. So consider this bunk ... DE-BUNKED. 

No, relax. This is not some conspiracy thing. Even though there apparently are aliens now, and they're just telling us, and no one really knows what to do. So. It seems like it gets percentage points less crazy to be a conspiracy theorist every 15 years or so. Don't quote me on that.

Anyway, Tom and I go through some examples of ancient conventional wisdom that turned out to be ehhh let's say, not totally on the mark. You might recognize some of these and think, oh my god, that's right, every single person on earth used to be Certain and also Wrong about something of dire importance. That is something that appears to happen every now and again. 

Then I trot with slight fear but not really through a breakdown of why unconscious bias testing is actually and unfortunately not something we can rely on. And this is relevant, how, Mr. Gaynor? Well, it is currently establishing an instance of conventional wisdom, but it is unscientific to the max. Sad but true, said a guy once. It's actually a tragedy and I shouldn't joke. But, I'm a joker, so let me live. Thanks. The joke is that Sad But True is a Metallica song. 

Following this, Tom debunks the bunk out of some examples of current conventional wisdom that are just great. This was where I got to listen to a podcast on my podcast. Tom's got a degree in Behavioral Neuroscience, so y'all better bx and listen up. That too is a joke. The joke is that bx means "behavior" in psychology land. So that joke didn't actually make grammatical sense, but I just, I'm done. Listen to the podcast. I laughed editing it. Good times.

What we do is we look things up, like a child asking a parent. You can just do that and Google will bring you right there.  Then from there you have to do some work. 

Damn things got good, like they do every year. This is why you watch the playoffs.

I am spiritually wrecked from these telecasts.

Every 8 seconds there is a stoppage in a play to watch an emotionally manipulative commercial or a guy reviewing if there was a foul. 

It's just brutal. 

I love basketball and this shit is killing my life. 

The Raptors went up 3-0 on the Nets. 

No one is really emerging as the clear title favorite. This is like a new season. 

Mostly just complaining, someone had to do it. 

Welcome to Day 4 of - yeah, that's right - Yoffs. These yoffs be goin onnnnnn!! I tell you!

Three teams scored 111 tonight. What? That's odd. Do you know what Carl Jung said about coincidences that come in 3's rather than just 2's?

Tonight's story? "Too early to tell." That's the news! No, I promise, I say things. Comments and what not. Just, listen! Listen to those comments, sheesh. Hoo boy.

+++EHHH I ain't feeling so bureaucratic about these notes so lemme just give you the gist. At this point in the night, I do not feel like a bureau. I acknowledge the usefulness of bureaus, but I ain't about that life atm. +++

+++Today showed us in crystal clear contrast that there are two ways to play basketball: the good way, and the bad way. The good way, we will call "basketball," and the bad way we will call one of the following: "math ball", "Hardenitis", "this dumb shit where everyone stands around" etc. We'll all know what you mean. +++

+++Damian Lillard plays basketball. The Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks today played math ball, and it was an excruciating watch. The Houston Rockets of course play math ball, and are the excruciatingest. Then Lillard and Lebron stepped on the court and my spirit was restored. They're just such exceptional players of the game. They really know how to work angles and apply pressure and vary their approach and keep guys guessing. Plus the shooting from Lillard. Jesus.+++

+++Lillard hit one tonight that made me yell "Oh my GOD!" to no one. I am typically silent in a silent room as I watch these. Some of the good ones I catch on the big screen downstairs with my Dad. Multigenerational living is shamed by society yet I spend quality time with my parents every day and I will never regret it. What a world.  +++

+++Lebron was just sensational tonight and it wasn't enough. LAL is in real trouble.+++

+++Tomorrow the Nuggets go, I fucking love that team. WATCH JAMAL MURRAY!!! He isn't quite mature and he really doesn't like looking dumb (they pretty much all have that disease now, these young guards and forwards - fear of looking dumb when trying hard in a big spot - there is "I'm barely even trying" vibe that's caught on big time. Watch Paul George making sure he always looks effortless. You ever see that dude scramble wildly? I worry about that in game 6 and game 7). Watch the Nuggets. Watch the Celtics, Tatum is just ridiculous. He always steps up when there's an injury too and has for years. Him getting clearance as lead dog is a good thing.+++

+++Okey doke, YOFFS, my friends! Straight ball tonight!! Maybe tomorrow I will bring in some wacky philosophy or somesuch deal, or I will get into detail about halfcourt sets since I'm lamenting the lack of them. To see the difference, watch the Lakers in the halfcourt vs the Rockets in the halfcourt. The communication, the movement, the appearance of a rehearsed plan being in place. It's a different sport.
