After nearly a decade without a live action Batman, Warner Bros enlists up and coming filmmaker Christopher Nolan to reignite a spark under the multi-million dollar franchise. Released on June 15th 2005, Batman Begins is the origin story of how billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) becomes a symbol of hope for the dying Gotham City. The film follows the rise of Batman in Gotham City, Wayne’s romantic relationship with Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes), and the villains Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy) and Ducard (Liam Neeson).

What’s a Batman month without Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill? This week we are joined by longtime friend of the show Charlie Eccles to discuss the 1993 animated film, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. The film follows the caped crusader who is wrongfully accused of a series of murder committed by the mysterious Phantasm. The world’s greatest detective must figure out who is behind this series of crimes, and how the trail leads him down a path into his own personal history. The film stars the voices of Kevin Conroy as Batman, Mark Hamill as The Joker, and Dana Delany as Andrea Beaumont.

Based on the critically acclaimed August Wilson stage play, Fences was release in the winter of 2016 and is directed by Denzel Washington. Washington, who portrays the lead character Troy, a lower economic class garbage collector whom lives in Pittsburgh with his wife Rose (Viola Davis) and teenage son Cory (Jovan Adepo) during the 1950’s. Troy is frequented by his longtime friend Jim Bono (Stephen McKinley Henderson) and eldest son Lyons (Russell Hornsby) as we follow his life through relationships, family, work and alcohol abuse.
