Okay so this was the original idea for the last episode. But better late than never I guess. I talk about reparations. The parts of reparation I touch on are:

🗣What is reparation?

🗣We like to pretend that slavery and colonisations happened a long time ago

🗣Why should the current descendants pay for the actions of their ancestors?

🗣The idea that this generation of white people should not pay for the actions of their ancestors is the exclamation that this generation of black people should suffer along with our ancestors.

🗣Taxes are used to fund wars and weapons but reparations are not worth it?

🗣Africa only has 5% to 10% of its artefacts

🗣The British Museum only displays 1% of all the African artefacts that England stole

🗣The bare minimum of reparations is just ending racism

🗣White people are always so confused when it comes to anti-blackness but are fully aware of why anti-semetism is bad

After weeks of postponing I have finally seen the Barbie movie. Lowkey glad I’m making this episode after the hype has died down a bit cause I’d be mad overwhelmed if this was at the peak of it. Well, here are some of my takes after seeing the movie:

🗣Discourse surrounding the character Alan

🗣Under the patriarchy men are viewed as incapable of empathy towards women and marginalised groups

🗣Barbie is somewhat the representation of the perfect woman

🗣We drifted a bit far from the idea of women being people and deeper into the idea of women having ambitions

🗣Barbie also was a commentary on capitalism and consumerism

🗣A lot of the issues brought up in the movie are quite eurocentric

🗣As much as Barbie is a progressive figure, it does lean into patriarchal concepts

🗣As seen in the movie, under the patriarchy men exist to seek validation from women likewise women from men

🗣Men should exist outside of women

🗣The Ken song was quite good and told a separate story as well

🗣We sometimes forget that manipulation isn’t only a male issue

🗣My interpretation of a section of the movie being a commentary on the red pill pipeline
