It’s Christmas, which means it’s Donna’s birthday, but no one pays attention to that. Noah isn’t a Christmas kind of guy, and Zach learns that Santa isn’t real to Steve and Carly’s dismay. David steps in again with Ben and his parents. Kelly tries to stand up for herself with Dr Monaghan, but the foundation wants her to talk him up at the Christmas fundraiser. And Brandon keeps spending time with Emma, much to our dismay.

Val and David have decided to consummate their fake relationship. Donna finds out and kicks David out, but he’s busy working at a car wash with another semi-homeless guy Ben. The PPAD is running a comedy night, and Steve manages to book the opening spot. Except he’s not funny at all so he does the only thing he knows how to deal - steals someone else’s IP and gets away with it. Kelly has a very busy week - modeling for Donna, being harassed at work, and accidentally encouraging her boyfriend to spend time with a woman he’s attracted to.

Brandon still refuses to give up his source, so the ADA arrests him. Kelly calls for a lawyer, Rush’s lawyer, and Rush comes to bail out Brandon and talk to Steve about potentially being a young father. Brandon uses his bail to set up a sting with Erica for Riggs. Steve uses this opportunity to accept being a father, again, as long as the baby is his. David has to deal with the fallout of losing Donna, losing his place to stay, and losing his landlord all in the same week. And Noah hates his money. It ruins everything. The money. Not him.

Carly and Steve and Jodi talk about young parenthood and the options therein. Under pressure, and with support, Steve decides to take a paternity test to find the truth. David finally comes clean to everyone about at least some of his problems.  Mel suggests he file for bankruptcy, and Noah breaks a bottle of liquor against a wall.
