Back To The Basement

In this episode I get to talk to my friend Yusuf from Vampire Slumber Party! In fact, we actually didn't know each other before this episode was recorded but it turns out we may have crossed paths without even realising it in East London ... on more than one occasion. Yusuf is a talented multi instrumentalist who has just released his new album (Vampire Slumber Party - Funeral Pop) and is available every where you stream music. Go give him a listen and a follow! You know it makes sense!

In this episode I get to speak to a friend of mine who I met here in Taiwan many years ago. We were first introduced through music and watching his band play in Hsinchu. He's had a very colourful musical life here and now continues to do so in Vietnam. There's not much I can say that his music can't so do yourself a favour and listen to this lovely man's, lovely music below ⬇️

In this episode I get to sit down and chat to one of my pals who over the years we've been getting closer and closer. It was nice to have this chat with him and hear some of his hysterical stories from from jobs he's had back in Northern Ireland and how he eventually made it out to Taiwan. George is always a fantastic jujitsu fighter and competes in competitions around Taiwan! There's a lot of laughter in this episode so be warned if you're walking and listening, you may start laughing and people will give you that funny look! Enjoy.

In this episode I get to speak to a pal of mine who is also 1/4 of Taichung's Shapemaster! Brahm and I have known each other a good number of years but like a lot of these episodes perhaps our backstories are unfamiliar to each other ... so that's why we got to sit down and have a little chat. It's always a pleasure to see Brahm out and about at gigs and I hope we get to see each other (after all these Taiwan lockdowns) at a few shows! Sit back and enjoy.

In this episode I get to speak to the man behind one of the best pop punk releases (in my opinion) Covert Flops - Defcon 1234, Chad Shick! I have been such a fan for so long! Living half the world away, I never thought I'd get a change to talk to him, but through the power of social media we managed to get it together for a great chat about music, movies, america and ... THE NEW Covert Flops album! If you stick around for the episode you might even hear a brand new EXCLUSIVE track! I'm really grateful we got to virtually hang out and talk. I hope you'll enjoy it, too!

In this episode I get to talk to my good mate Shaun! Aka Shaun Boi! Where to begin with this one? One of the most hard working people around. Shaun has been a key figure in Taichung and is well known from his bands The Ever So Friendlies and The Shapemaster. Most recently he is making in roads to open his own business here in Taiwan and in this conversation we hear all about where he came from to the present day and what a conversation it was. I really enjoyed it and I know you will, too. We have been mates for many years, but getting to know him all over again for this show was wonderful! Sit back and enjoy .

In this episode I get to speak to a wonderful photographer (check the link below) and new friend, Kayt! We first connected on social media after liking each other's work so we struck up a conversation and she was kind enough to agree to come on the show. She used to be a fellow Taichung-er but our paths never seemed to cross. We got to talk about live in New Zealand, Taiwan, photography, travelling and everything in between. It's great to have a met a new friend and good luck with your travels, Kayt!

In this episode I get to speak to Andrew Summers!!!! Lead singer and guitarist for Eat Defeat! (Such a good F*****G band!) I got to see him play a couple of years ago on my travels back to the UK in the New Cross Inn when his band supported Masked Intruder. I loved the band from the first note and I'm so happy to say I loved the conversation we had for this podcast. We got to speak about all kinds of things and really got to know Andrew! I hope you enjoy it, too!

In this episode I get to talk to my NEW friend, Dougie! What a treat it was. I have been a fan of his bands for such a long time and I never thought I would get a chance to talk to him. But with the power of social media, we managed to meet up and get this done. Dougie is a very popular person in his local music scene and has fans all over the world. I am very please to bring you this episode of Back To The Basement! Sit back and enjoy.

In this episode I get to talk to a friend of mine who is also in the same band  as me! We talk pretty much everyday, but we just couldn't get it together to record! But ... here we are, FINALLY!!  I'm so happy to finally get him on the show and speak to him about where he grew up, his influences and becoming a father. I hope you enjoy the talk and if you ever see him play, give him a high 5! Enjoy!
