About Backroads and Bullsh*t Podcast
From the publisher's feed
The Backroads and BS is a direct, straight-shooting podcast hosted by Texas journalist and photographer Matt Pierce, a 6th-generation Texan who’s spent his career cutting through the noise of…
mainstream media. Tired of the scripted narratives and out-of-touch reporting, Matt is here to have real conversations with real people—Texans who work, live, and thrive outside the big-city bubble.
This podcast isn’t about political spin or manufactured outrage. It’s for the roughnecks, ranchers, farmers, teachers, landmen, and hardworking folks who just want honest, logical discussions about Texas politics, rural affairs, culture, and the issues that actually matter. Whether it's breaking down the latest nonsense from elected officials, exploring the realities of rural life, or tackling topics like jobs, industry, sports, religion, and the arts—nothing is off-limits.
With a dry Texas wit and a sharp eye for the truth, Matt delivers news and analysis in a way that’s relatable, engaging, and unapologetically real. This isn’t another macho hot-take fest. It’s a conversation—one that’ll make you think, maybe laugh, and definitely walk away knowing your time wasn’t wasted.
So, grab a seat, take a breath, and let’s talk—because Texas isn’t just a place, it’s a way of life.
