She was just four years old when she was locked in a sweltering shed behind a rural trailer, where  she was tortured, bitten, whipped with cords, and left to sleep on the floor beside soiled rags. Ten days later, covered in bruises and barely clinging to life, she was carried into an emergency room by the very man who’d caused her cries for mercy.
