  • In No Official Capacity (with Brandon, Andy, and Wes)
Brandon and Andy sit with one of our oldest friends, Wes "Daddy" Johnson, founder of Insulin Funk and a scene veteran in his own right. Representing his place of employment in no official capacity we discuss a variety of topics including, though not limited to, the following topics in no particular order: The Room and Greg Sestero (author of the The Disaster Artist), the good old days, the MTV Music Generator, flea markets, The Joy of Sex, SMDBHMM, butthole hygiene, Sesame Street musical guests, Pete and Pete and Polaris, his sister's boobs, Katy Perry's boobs, Randy Newman singing "All Star" by Smashmouth, barbecue mutton, barbecue ribs, barbecue chicken... maybe those last few were from Brandon!

Get your tickets to see Greg Sestero at a screening of The Room in Owensboro, Kentucky! This event is sponsored in part by Bad Apple Records and Miles Media Solutions along with our good friends at the Daviess County Public Library. Seating is limited. We'll be there, so please come say hello!

  • Santelly (with Jon Russelburg)
Brandon and Andy sit with Jon Russelburg and our buddy "Newman" to talk about Jon's upcoming musical projects, dogs, and why he hated the Avengers: Age of Ultron.

We also debate why everyone seems to hate Brandon's beloved flame top custom Telecaster, how Jon customized his forgotten junk Squire to finally acquire the sound he'd been looking for, and if Dave Grohl is right that indie artists are afraid of "selling out" to the point of avoiding commercial success altogether.

Jon also performs "The Poet," which is one of Josiah Murphy's favorite songs ever.

PATRON-EXCLUSIVE CONTENT: Jon Russelburg performs "Bully," a previously unreleased track from an upcoming LP release. (https://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=2679852&rf=243624).

  • Can I Just Say Something Real Quick? (with Brandon, Andy, Josiah, and Tyler)
Brandon and Andy invite Josiah and Tyler from Why They Came to sit in on what is surely the most chaotic (but fun) episode yet! Rated PG-13 for violence, suggested material, and brief nudity...

We answer your questions from Twitter and Facebook! Find out where the name Bad Apple Records came from as well as the names Why They Came and All Around the Dinner Table. What does Brandon think social media and the "digital age" has meant for running a small indie label? How can you support the bands you love, even when you don't have a dime? Why does Josiah touch the mic stand so much?

And go see Mad Max! Like now, apparently...

    http://www.badapplerecords.net

PATRON-EXCLUSIVE CONTENT: Scott Belcher's "Meica, Meica, Meica" Performed by Why They Came (https://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=2500480&rf=243624).

Tyler asks, if time (or ability) were not a factor, what band would you want to play in, or what specific show would you want to be a part of. Andy, Josiah, and Brandon discuss their picks (https://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=2500512&rf=243624).

Josiah asks at what point did you turn from the music you knew from the radio, etc... and truly discover indie music. Andy, Tyler, and Brandon share their stories (https://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=2500544&rf=243624).

  • Choose Your Bottles Wisely (with Sempervivi)
Brandon and Andy keep Melissa awake to gripe about the new tattooed Joker image that leaked last week before sitting down with Derek Price (formerly of Stellar Kin and Redfoot) to talk about his new recording project - Sempervivi! Derek and Brandon share stories from their early days in Stellar Kin as well as life since the band's hiatus, along with what may go down in history as the most embarrassing story to ever hit our podcast... and just four episodes in!

Derek also performs "Open Hands" from his upcoming "Artifacts" EP (currently in production for release later this year). Make sure to follow him on Twitter and Instagram @sempervivi and subscribe to his YouTube channel for weekly videos featuring covers and originals.

PATRON-EXCLUSIVE CONTENT: More performances by Sempervivi's Derek Price including "Bedtime Suite" and either the best or worst cover of "Friday" (yes, THAT Friday) available to our Patrons. • Until Their Nipples Bleed (with Cort Basham from Redfoot)
Brandon and Andy fondly recall basement shows at Grace Church of Bowling Green in the early days of Bad Apple Records... including opening sets from Cort Basham, who would later form the band Redfoot and release a debut LP The Phantom Tollbooth would call the "best freshman effort of 2008."

Cort also joins us to discuss life since "Winnowing Fork," Redfoot's upcoming "Axe at the Root" LP, his return to the Boston Marathon for the first time since the 2013 bombings, and the vinyl revival. All of that and a performance of a brand new Redfoot song, "Rusty Traps!"

PATRON-EXCLUSIVE CONTENT: More performances by Redfoot's Cort Basham including "Train from Ronkonkoma" and "Dust in the Wind" available to our Patrons. • A Chair Made of Bungee Cords (with Wintering)
Brandon has lost his voice, and he still won't shut the hell up about wrestling, Stellar Kin's patented recording technique for hand claps, and what could fix Spotify for the indies. Andy discusses the challenges of repairing his 1962 Harmony Rocket (through the f-holes) and briefs us on Why They Came's marathon recording session with one-day access to some really nice microphones.

We're also joined by the lovely Taylor Dooley from Wintering and Traveler to talk about Wintering's new "Close Enough" EP, which can be yours for FREE if you sign up to become a Patron of Bad Apple Records! She also discusses songwriting, inspirations, and her growing local music scene.

  • Humiliating to My Psyche (with Brandon and Andy)
Find out why Brandon almost broke his ankles in a penguin polar plunge! Will Andy get his 1962 Harmony Rocket? Did Josiah meet Carrie Fisher (known, of course, from her famous role in The Blues Brothers)? Why did Rob Crow from Pinback call it quits? How can you tell if your band is in a rut? Exactly how late is too late to drink whiskey and record a podcast?

We also hear new music from Re-Education Camp and take a look back at the track "When Jesus Comes Again" from Why They Came's "Don't Eat From the Candy Tree" LP.
