This time, AJ and Abbey discuss Americanah by Chimimanda Ngozi Adichie the latest book in their subscription book box .
Americanah is a story of immigration and identity told through the lens of two characters from Nigeria. Ifemelu, who emigrates to the US to attend university, and Obinze, who emigrates to the UK illegally. The novel reveals some tough truths around immigration, race and identity - with humor, purity and love. The cocktail we’ve created to go along with it - the aptly named Americanah - features ingredients who have also moved physically and culturally around the globe.
As always, we discuss the book with a bit of fun and a bit of booze. We go into sections we can relate to in our everyday life, discuss positive language people use that show prejudice, people who live in exclamation points, or standard topic of Controversy or Nah and our playlist - which features female artists from Nigeria.
