It's October and it's time for me to start my daily podcast. In this episode, I get to talk about what I've learned about the process that helps me be creative every day. I really want to play Red Dead Redemption II, a game that will have 60-100 hours of content. But that will take away from my big audacious goal of creating a great podcast program. I need those 100 hours. We can't put voluntary setbacks in our life. We have to know what you want in life and then put everything else on hold.

Brene Brown says at the end of her new book, Dare to Lead, "You have already failed if you let someone else define success for you." So, I think a part of life is reverse engineering what we've been told what success is and start implementing our own voice into how we define success. A vision for success is so important. If you are not keeping score, then you're not playing for stakes. You're not in the game if you don't care about the progress or the results.

Every time we pursue creativity or do something that is meaningful, we go through bouts of insecurites that tell us to fold, give up, and hide. The key to crativity, then, is to confront and process our insecurities so they do not interfere with the creative process. Creativity is not freedom of restrictions and constraints but establishing the right ones in order to cultivate true innovation and design. Creativity comes from both creating an environment where you can thrive but in order to do that, we all need a heavy dose of self-awareness.
