American Sea Fishing is owned by Ben Hervey-Murray – a USA international angler with over thirty years experience; from tournament success in saltwater and fresh, to guiding hundreds of clients and catching numerous trophy fish in California.

Ben started fishing for fun and entering tournaments around his hometown of Cambridge, UK in the 80s and 90s, soon moving on to saltwater targets and a career in media and fishing. After working as a reporter for Angling Times, sub-editor and digital editor of Angler’s Mail in the UK, and media manager in the tackle industry, he moved to the US and set up American Sea Fishing to share the amazing fishing opportunities the ocean offers. 

Ben is President of the USA Surf Fishing Team, and led his 14-strong team to silver in the 2024 Pan American Surf Fishing Championships in Costa Rica.

Captain Wes Pierson grew up in Southern California and was introduced to fishing at a very young age. From trout fishing in the Sierras and bass fishing at local lakes to offshore adventures in the family boat; he was hooked early on. After college and a stint in the corporate world he abruptly switched gears to follow his passion on the ocean. Since 2014 he has been working full time in the sportfishing industry and sharing his passion with countless other fishermen.
