बे-क़रारी सी बे-क़रारी है

वस्ल है और फ़िराक़ तारी है

जो गुज़ारी न जा सकी हम से

हम ने वो ज़िंदगी गुज़ारी है

निघरे क्या हुए कि लोगों पर

अपना साया भी अब तो भारी है

बिन तुम्हारे कभी नहीं आई

क्या मिरी नींद भी तुम्हारी है

आप में कैसे आऊँ मैं तुझ बिन

साँस जो चल रही है आरी है

उस से कहियो कि दिल की गलियों में

रात दिन तेरी इंतिज़ारी है

हिज्र हो या विसाल हो कुछ हो

हम हैं और उस की यादगारी है

इक महक सम्त-ए-दिल से आई थी

मैं ये समझा तिरी सवारी है

हादसों का हिसाब है अपना

वर्ना हर आन सब की बारी है

ख़ुश रहे तू कि ज़िंदगी अपनी

उम्र भर की उमीद-वारी है

mujh pe hi khatm hua silsila-e-nauhagari

is qadar gardish-e-ayyam pe rona aaya

jab hua zikr zamaane mein mohabbat ka 'shakil'

chand bhi ain chait ka us pe tera jamal bhi

sab se nazar bacha ke wo mujh ko kuchh aise dekhta
ek dafa to ruk gai gardish-e-mah-o-sal bhi

dil to chamak sakega kya phir bhi tarash ke dekh len
shisha-giran-e-shahr ke hath ka ye kamal bhi

us ko na pa sake the jab dil ka ajib haal tha
ab jo palaT ke dekhiye baat thi kuchh muhaal bhi

meri talab tha ek shaKHs wo jo nahin mila to phir
hath dua se yun gira bhul gaya sawal bhi

us ki suKHan-taraaziyan mere liye bhi Dhaal thin
us ki hansi mein chhup gaya apne ghamon ka haal bhi

gah qarib-e-shah-rag gah baid-e-wahm-o-KHwab
us ki rafaqaton mein raat hijr bhi tha visal bhi

us ke hi bazuon mein aur us ko hi sochte rahe
jism ki KHwahishon pe the ruh ke aur jal bhi

sham ki na-samajh hawa puchh rahi hai ek pata

agar mumkin ho le le apni aahaT
KHabar do husn ko main aa raha hun

haden husn-o-mohabbat ki mila kar
qayamat par qayamat Dha raha hun

KHabar hai tujh ko ai zabt-e-mohabbat
tere hathon mein luTta ja raha hun

asar bhi le raha hun teri chup ka
tujhe qail bhi karta ja raha hun

bharam tere sitam ka khul chuka hai
main tujh se aaj kyun sharma raha hun

unhin mein raaz hain gul-bariyon ke
main jo chingariyan barsa raha hun

jo un masum aankhon ne diye the
wo dhoke aaj tak main kha raha hun

tere pahlu mein kyun hota hai mahsus
ki tujh se dur hota ja raha hun

had-e-jor-o-karam se baDh chala husn
nigah-e-yar ko yaad aa raha hun

jo uljhi thi kabhi aadam ke hathon
wo gutthi aaj tak suljha raha hun

mohabbat ab mohabbat ho chali hai
tujhe kuchh bhulta sa ja raha hun

ajal bhi jin ko sun kar jhumti hai
wo naghme zindagi ke ga raha hun

इक नज़र मेरी तरफ़ भी तिरा जाता क्या है 

मेरी रुस्वाई में वो भी हैं बराबर के शरीक 

मेरे क़िस्से मिरे यारों को सुनाता क्या है 

पास रह कर भी न पहचान सका तू मुझ को 

दूर से देख के अब हाथ हिलाता क्या है 

ज़ेहन के पर्दों पे मंज़िल के हयूले न बना 

ग़ौर से देखता जा राह में आता क्या है 

ज़ख़्म-ए-दिल जुर्म नहीं तोड़ भी दे मोहर-ए-सुकूत 

जो तुझे जानते हैं उन से छुपाता क्या है 

सफ़र-ए-शौक़ में क्यूँ काँपते हैं पाँव तिरे 

आँख रखता है तो फिर आँख चुराता क्या है 

उम्र भर अपने गरेबाँ से उलझने वाले 

तू मुझे मेरे ही साए से डराता क्या है 

चाँदनी देख के चेहरे को छुपाने वाले 

धूप में बैठ के अब बाल सुखाता क्या है 

मर गए प्यास के मारे तो उठा अब्र-ए-करम 

बुझ गई बज़्म तो अब शम्अ जलाता क्या है 

मैं तिरा कुछ भी नहीं हूँ मगर इतना तो बता 

देख कर मुझ को तिरे ज़ेहन में आता क्या है 

तेरा एहसास ज़रा सा तिरी हस्ती पायाब 

तो समुंदर की तरह शोर मचाता क्या है 

तुझ में कस-बल है तो दुनिया को बहा कर ले जा 

चाय की प्याली में तूफ़ान उठाता क्या है 

तेरी आवाज़ का जादू न चलेगा उन पर 

जागने वालों को 'शहज़ाद' जगाता क्या है

काश पूछो कि मुद्दआ' क्या है 

जब कि तुझ बिन नहीं कोई मौजूद 

फिर ये हंगामा ऐ ख़ुदा क्या है 

ये परी-चेहरा लोग कैसे हैं 

ग़म्ज़ा ओ इश्वा ओ अदा क्या है 

शिकन-ए-ज़ुल्फ़-ए-अंबरीं क्यूँ है 

निगह-ए-चश्म-ए-सुरमा सा क्या है 

सब्ज़ा ओ गुल कहाँ से आए हैं 

अब्र क्या चीज़ है हवा क्या है 

हम को उन से वफ़ा की है उम्मीद 

जो नहीं जानते वफ़ा क्या है 

हाँ भला कर तिरा भला होगा 

और दरवेश की सदा क्या है 

जान तुम पर निसार करता हूँ 

मैं नहीं जानता दुआ क्या है
