On this episode of Bakacast, I'm finally not posting it horribly late in the week. See! I told you I could do it when I put my mind to it. Now I just need to put my mind to it more often.

Aside from certain wish-fulfillment shows tackling subjects they really have no business touching with a 50-foot pole (and the ever-present turd that is Psycho-Pass S2), this week was pretty solid. Or, I guess, it was definitely last week by now. Man, I'm getting really bad at this. I'll have the next episode out in a more timely fashion, I swear.

No, really, I will. Stop laughing.

On this episode, Psycho-Pass still sucks and Parasyte finally has a couple episodes that aren't fantastic; but that's okay, because Garo is finally giving me what I want and being totally radical in the process. The only thing I'd change about episode 9 would be adding even more sick guitar riffs. It just wasn't quite metal enough.

There's...nothing really new to report here. Mushi-shi's still great. Psycho-Pass is still dumb as hell. Garo is still teasing us mercilessly. And I still feel kinda bad for liking Amagi Brilliant Park. There's not even anything funny to rant about with Sword Art Online. I feel so empty inside.

Just when I thought Sword Art Online wasn't going to bog down its new arc in clumsily-handled drama, it goes and proves me wrong. Hopefully it won't be quite as migraine-inducing as Sion's childhood trauma. That's not the end to this week's disappointment, either. Gundam finally wears out its welcome, which means I once again have no good mecha shows to watch this season. My only hope now is for Shingeki no Bahamut to somehow end with Favaro and Kaisar piloting giant, steel golems. You laugh, but Rita already has a pseudo-rocket-punch.

So, this week is the week where we finally lose our patience with some shows. Gundam has one more shot to find its footing and become something that isn't mediocre. April Is Your Lie has failed to capture the attention of anyone besides Ben, and even he's not enthusiastic about all of us covering it. While Shirobako isn't bad (I actually think it's quite good), its style of humor just doesn't mesh well with me, which makes it painful to watch. And though Garo is still enjoyable enough for me to forgive its flaws, if it stays in its current holding pattern for much longer I might give it the boot.

As much as I like making fun out of the Fate franchise and its mannerisms, I am--to my surprise--really enjoying this rendition of Fate/Stay Night. In fact, I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out what to say here, since all the shows this season have been so gosh-darn consistent in their quality (or their decline in quality). So I'm not gonna bother, because it's late and I'm really sleepy.

I'm starting to struggle to figure out what to write here, because this fall season has been alarmingly stable. There haven't been any egregious episodes for typically good shows (yet), nor have their been fantastic episodes for shows that are kinda okay (yet). To use a strained nautical metaphor, it's steady as she goes with not a storm in sight. That said, there have been some warning signs. Our interest in Gundam and Garo is starting to wane, because we're not really sure what the shows are working toward. And Pyscho-Pass is beginning to push me away with how much it feels like it's been retreading from the first season. I'm crossing my fingers that these shows don't end up taking a slow descent into Terribleville.

On this very belated release of Bakacast (my bad...), we dig even deeper into the fall season and drop...not all that many shows really. Even Sword Art is actually decent. With very little drop in quality from the previous week (save for Yona, but that can be blamed on flashbacks being largely terrible), it's looking like we're gonna maintain this amount of shows for the entire season. I hope you're happy.

On this episode of Bakacast OH GOOD LORD THERE ARE SO MANY SHOWS! WHY DO THERE HAVE TO BE SO MANY GOOD SHOWS?! Much like a hydra, for every show we drop, two or more take its place. While this situation does make me happy, I'm also reciting a silent prayer for the death of my free time.
