Bakacast

On this episode of Bakacast, we have a lot of catching up to do. We're talking, like, over 20 episodes of catching up. Also, we finally review GitS: Arise #3 and wade through a pool of listener questions. Oh, by the way, we don't mention it during the episode, but we've dropped Glasslip. Turns out only Ben cared enough to watch episodes 3 and 4, and he didn't feel it was a good use of his time.

On this week's episode, a few series show some chinks in their armor, the ones that already looked weak continue to not impress, and Barakamon has somehow become my favorite show. Never would have guessed that one. Also, be aware that I will be going on vacation for a week, which means the next episode will be delayed. We'll make up for it by doubling up on our reviews for that episode. Hopefully it doesn't end up taking, like, four hours.

Megan was absent from this episode due to an emergency, but we still manage to talk for an interminably long time thanks to way too many listener questions. Also thanks to a whole lot of summer shows that premiered, most of which we end up enjoying, which was a pleasant surprise. Still, if the shows we liked keep being good, then I fear for how crammed my schedule is gonna get in the coming weeks.

It was a pretty darn good week for us Bakacasters. Every show we watched got a perfect score. To make it even better, Ping Pong ended on a higher note than even I expected it to. It feels good to not really have anything to dislike for once.

After the disappointments that were the Star Driver movie and the third Madoka movie (the latter was disappointing to ME, anyway), my cohosts and I were quite relieved that Persona 3: Spring of Birth is actually pretty great. Which is good for me, because I would rather not force you guys to hear me sob uncontrollably.

As you might have guessed, this week we review the Star Driver movie. Our reactions are not what you'd describe as "kind." Hopefully the first Persona 3 movie won't create a hat-trick of disappointment.

On the other hand, the rest of the shows that haven't been culled yet leave us with plenty to gush (and speculate) about.

Mellowship is back from his D&D convention, so I decide to bring back the What'cha Been Doin' segment to talk about Fourth Edition shenanigans. And also Drakengard 3.

Meanwhile, in the reviews section, we finally give up on Captain Earth and Mekaku City Actors; but we at least take solace in the fact that every other show is stronger than ever. We close out the show by looking over next season's offerings and making mostly ill-informed, snap judgments.

Oh God, we really did it. We've actually made 200 of these stupid things.
