What set Nehemiah apart was his love for God and his desire to protect and promote the name of God on the earth. God is still looking for men like Nehemiah today – ordinary men who will allow themselves to be used by God in extraordinary ways.

There comes a time in the life of every believer when care about God’s holiness takes precedence over man’s praise or popularity. Compromise among the people of God must be confronted by faithful men of God.

The worship of God is to come from out heart. It is not just some sort of ritual or regularly-scheduled activity we participate in or mark off our calendars. True worship is heart-felt worship.

God doesn't just want followers, He wants faithful followers. He desires men and women who will live in obedience to his word and allow their face to permeate every area of their lives

How easy it is for us to blame God for our own sin. But a firm understanding of the Word of God will always reveal the righteousness of God – in every circumstance and situation.

And understanding of and obedience to the Word of God is a non-negotiable necessity for the people of God. Without it, we are directionless and prone to accept the lies of the enemy.

God hadn’t sent Nehemiah to simply restore walls. He had sent him to repopulate the city and revitalize God’s people, and in doing so, restore the glory of His name in the world.

Opposition is a reality for every believer. It comes with the territory. And the enemy’s primary objective is to get our focus off of God and onto ourselves. Self-sufficiency is the greatest danger to our faith.

While Nehemiah was God’s man for the moment, this was not going to be a one-man job. Rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem was a herculean undertaking that was going to requires the efforts of everyone if it was going to happen.

Nehemiah had the ability to see things from a heavenly perspective – as God sees them. Yes, he saw trouble, but he also saw opportunity. This is ultimately the story of one man's unwavering faith in a faithful, all-powerful God.
