  • Ep 13. Dec O'Reilly (Only Strangers / SOU) Cold, Wet Tuesday Nights......
BoML goes back in time, to Stoke on Trent. The lair of Dec O’Reilly, one half of the infamous O’Reilly Bros, poundshop Gallaghers that run that town. From laying down some attention arresting Ska-core in Stokey legends Sense of Urgency, Dec’s swung about face into the pure tune-smithery of Only Strangers. They may not be prolific but that’s no character flaw and god dammit, good things are coming in small packages here. You dear listener should make the effort to pin these boys down, perhaps at the Evil Hoof Picnic in Mcr in July, and then add some further glowing words of praise the world wide web. Album is out now on Horn & Hoof records and a new EP due this year.
Meanwhile catch The Kirkz in Mcr on March 22nd at Gullivers, Star and Garter on April 07th and the Salty Dog on April 11th all courtesy of previous Bane of My Life alumni.
    Lets be having ya.
    Tunes:
Only Strangers - So Long Eutruria
    Only Strangers - Last Time
Sense of Urgency - Glory Days
Only Strangers - Anyway, We Delivered The Bomb

  • Ep 12. Jason Carroll - No where to Hyde - the words of a punk rock bastion
Yes, yes. Bane of My Life is back for more saucy punk rock content in Big 2019.
First up a trip to the beacon amongst Stockport’s dark Satanic Mills, Pressure Drop rehearsal and recording studios. And lurking in this Kirkz -ratified sanctum, none other then Big Jase Carroll, case of cider in hand, ready to hunker down for the BoML long haul.
I can’t say the S word without using airquotes but the scene relies on promoters like Jase, doing the thankless task to give us bands somewhere to give it some and hopefully someone to give it to Well following years of grind then Mr Carroll just happens to have gotten quite good at it so you know that his gigs will bang, just as we’re lucky to doing for him in April. He’s also just off his most successful run of gigs having been instrumental in getting the legendary Macc Lads back to the stage in Nov 18.
Well known and well liked for reasons that come across here, sit back and enjoy.
    TUNES in order
One Man Stand - Black Hole
Anger Flares - We got the Power
RBH - Wankin in the Woods
    Vomit - Bound for Glory
    Drongo's for Europe - Contamination
Gimp Fist - Here I Stand
    In Evil Hour - Predators

  • Ep 11. Nobody puts Mikey in the corner: Mikey "Shiraz" Baird
So one of these days my luck may run out with regards to highly entertaining, good value guests.
But it is not this day.
Michael, Mikey Shiraz, Baird, on his home territory of The Parish, Huddersfield. Promoter and bitchin front man of Mr Shiraz, Land Sharks and Malt Loaf.
We’re not privy to his age but what we can be sure of is that he has turned his life over to Rock N Roll in true BoML style.
I’ve had the pleasure of this a few times and the overriding themes that stay with me…..#Piss., #Blackpool and #Ghosts. Enjoy.

  • Ep 10: Evil Bazz - Crashing The Party.
I think you'll find that BoML is the supreme arbiter of all that is happening and cool and this nose for quality takes me to Rochdale (O.L postcode though). Danny Barrett, faithful servant to comedy and ska-punk rocking is my mark and there's a party breaking out in his shed which you're privy to here
As Captain of the motley crew that are The Crash Mats, a mere 10 years suckling at the sour, barren teat of punk rock makes for another legend of the game. Fashion icon, promoter, come crash the party with us.

    Featuring (in order)
Smoke All Night - The Crash Mats
Sausage Roll - The Crash Mats
Queen Victoria’s Knob - Pete Bentham & The Dinner Ladies

  • Ep9. Dave March....a sound guy?? On the road with The Menzingers, Bouncing Souls & more
Bane of My Life Podcast – Tales of triumphs and toil from two decades in UK punk.
Dave March had the pleasure of spending his formative years looking up to The Kirkz but now leaves us choking on his exhaust fumes as he skips around the world doing live sound for The Menzingers, Bouncing Souls and loads of other serious names. This BoML waterboarding sesh is sound-tracked by bands that set him squarely on this path of glory.
    The Living Daylights -"Maybe Escapes"
    All Idols Fall -"Resonate"
Leagues Apart - "Kat Dennings; You Are My Everest"
The Shuffle - "Shut the Door" (Worth it for Dave's rapping) and "Breakout"
Listen to BoML on Itunes, Stitcher and more. Have a cheeky share.

  • Ep 8: Chris Mundie, from The Business to running a business (The Salty Dog Northwich)
That’s Mr BUNDIE to you! RRB heads deep into the salty mire of Northwich to chill with Lord Bund, another lover of all thing beginning with “The”. An inevitably fascinating encounter. He shared a birthing in the fiery crucible of the late 90’s Cheshire punk scene. Before then catapulting well beyond the comprehension of us bums by touring the actual world for 10 years as part of Oi legends The Business. Now the co-owner & driving force of one of the coolest new places on the live circuit by opening The Salty Dog in his hometown, Bundie has both seen it and by god he’s done it too.

  • Ep 6: Andy Davies, ROTPM, MPF, TNS, being there, doing it and making T-shirts
Christ alive the unstoppable rise of the Rock Radio Bitch continues apace. Merciless and hungry like a Wolf for shining a brilliant piercing light into the shadows of the UK punk scene and beyond.
Episode 6 is a MPF special with this three day monster dominating the April skyline like a boss at the end of video game level. The scene is set at the mighty Gullivers NQ where me and Andy Davies sit to chew the cud BUT THERE’S MORE.. With the news breaking that ROPTM are hanging up their horse masks, only the RRB insidiously wormed in to get you the inside scoop.
Andy D is a top guest as you might expect, great value and giving some moments of searing honesty. My head's spinning for reasons we shan’t discuss but i can vouch we had a great time and that spills through. I totes didn’t bother to namecheck the bumper top tunes that i’m privileged to spin, so here goes…….
    Revenge of the Psychotronic Man
    “I am absolutely fuming”
    “Planet Earth 2”
This is where the Idiot lives”
15 Million Merits (from Maida Vale session)
All can be found on the final record “That was just a noise”

  • Ep5: Hocky, from Birkenhead with love and saliva. Instant Agony, Bite Back & More
Roaring back in 2018 RRB hits new heights with the Beast of Birkenhead, stalwart of the Scene, Hocky. Utter pleasure to spend a couple of hour in the Hockdome chewing the fat about all that was and will still be. Currently fronting Biteback, Hockmeister is also well known for years kicking ass in Instant Agony. Tunes aplenty from both punctuate our prose.
    Go give Hocky some love,

About Bane of My Life - Tales from Rock'N'Roll's ashtray

From the publisher's feed

The scorched wilderness of rock n roll is an unforgiving place, but motoring out of the badlands comes Bane of My Life.
