Banjo Hangout Newest 100 Clawhammer and Old-Time Songs

Good Ol' St. Paddy's Day always gets us to pull out the Irish tunes ... I'm getting better at making recordings lately ... (I was getting background buzz in the usb mic I had bought .)

I'm doing plenty of 2-finger rolls and some thumb-pick work on this one

CH take on a 4 part Scottish pipe jig written by Donald Macleod. G tuning but low.

For the old-time Tune of the Week, 3/18/16 this tune was a new one for me. I listened to a lovely guitar arrangement by Ken Perlman and simplified it for clawhammering. Kids would like to swing on a gate, wouldn't they. Parents would tell them to get off, but it must be too fun to resist

I'm revisiting this song. It sure is fun to play and sing. I'm not making any effort for proper 1840s styling on it.

Tune of the Week.

An emotionally charge title with a melody to match.
