Banjo Hangout Newest 100 Songs

Me playing Bill Keith's great 5-string banjo version of this tune - my favorite all time 5-string banjo player whom I met and hung out with several times many years ago and even hosted him at our home once. I sure miss him and his fabulous, 'unparalleled' melodic banjo picking. RIP Bill.

A welcome addition to TOTW to get a tune from afar presented with lots of old history that also lends itself to learning a reel and a jig.

As played by the banjo of North Carolina's Fred Cockerham, he of course plays it faster and with even more slides, but it's as close to Round Peak as I've gotten by trying to arrange such a tune. This one has five parts!

The source recordings is Al Hopkins and the Buckle Busters from the 1920's. It's meant to be a pretty fast dance tune and has four parts.
