As played by August Merrill, Missouri fiddler, and collected by R.P. Christeson. Missouri tunes are often notey, and I suspect with more familiarity, I'd want to simplify this more for banjo ease.

Banjo fans..Im posting an old recording (1985) of two tunes by Sousa.

I recently found (its easy to loose things when you move a lot) this recording of the Sousa tunes which features Mary Levine, a staff pianist with ?The American Ballet Theatre, New York..Her Husband, Joe was the conductor for many years.

John Salyer's tune, played out of "Old-G" tuning. I pulled it out of another of my *.mp3's at the hangout: "Old G-athon" which has four other tunes with it.

I learned this beautiful arrangement from watching Dave Hum on YouTube. It is in the beautiful Double C tuning. I'm using a capo on the second fret, and on the seventh fret of the 5th string. Key of D. I tabbed out the song, which you'll find in the tabs area of the forum. For this recording I am using my Deering Goodtime Special banjo. Enjoy!
