A trip to Africa to photograph wildlife changed Barbara Hollweg’s life. The stay-at-home-mom and amateur photographer at the time is now an acclaimed photographer and animal conservationist, helping to save orphaned and abused chimpanzees. Hollweg’s documentary film Pant Hoot (2021) tells the story of "chimpanzee whisperer," Stany Nyandwi, a survivor of the Burundi genocide who has devoted his life to the care and rehabilitation of chimpanzees, working with Chimp Eden and Jane Goodall Institute.
