  • Cultivating Emotional Intelligence w/ Jessica Castillo of the Blooming Minds Podcast (Part 1 of 2)

    Send us Fan Mail

What's up to my tangerine tamanduas and telepathic tapirs.

Welcome back to another sizzling platter of brand new, deliciously seasoned BNP content y'all! Thank you for tuning in, listening, and for spreading the word and telling a friend about the Barbarian Noetics Podcast.

This episode it's my great pleasure to feature Jessica Castillo of the Blooming Minds podcast. Jess radiates positivity and possesses rare insights into the emotional realm of the human spirit. An avid student of psychology and child psychology, Jess has a passion for learning, teaching, and facilitating emotional healing in children and adults. Big thank you to Jess for being so generous with her time and for sharing her illuminating and clear-sighted perceptions around emotional intelligence.

In this first part of our chat we discuss Jess' upbringing and background, the challenges and institutional racism she has faced as a first generation Mexican-American with a single undocumented mother. We also dive into Jess' personal world view, what propelled her to want to study psychology and work with kids, and the importance of emotional intelligence when helping young minds to bloom (and also just when existing in the world, at any age).

This is Part One of our chat, and Part Two will drop next week. We had some technical issues in Part One. I did my best to make the audio presentable, but there are a few short moments when it's hard to understand. When that happens, just tune into the background music and consider the garbled voice an ASMR trigger.

Check out Jessica's new podcast, Blooming Minds. Blooming Minds is dedicated to cultivating Emotional Intelligence (EQ) for kids and families through yoga, mindfulness practices and art.

Be sure to follow Jess on IG @madebyjessicacastillo and @bloomingmindslv.

What's up to my tremulous tapaculos and fantabulous flowerpiercers!

Welcome back to the BNP y'all! Super yummy episode this week. Thank you for tuning in and supporting!!

This ep is Part Two of a fruitful and elucidating chat with Ricardo Vaz, esteemed author, journalist, artist and friend. Shout out to Ricardo for coming back on the pod for the 3rd time and for being so generous with his time and insights.

Tune in to hear Ricardo lead the way as we dive into a detailed and nuanced discussion of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), including giving air time to grievances from the Left of the Party, while always centering the extreme strain and constraints being imposed on PSUV by the brutal U.S. sanctions and economic blockade. It really cannot be overstated how awful these punitive measures are. And for what? For the sovereign nation of Venezuela insisting on its own self-determination. Imperial hegemony and hubris is a real bitch.

Additionally, we highlight the recent surprise election in Peru of teacher and union leader Pedro Castillo, who narrowly defeated Keiko Fujimori, the daughter of Peru's ex dictator Alberto Fujimori. We chat about other juicy topics as well, but you'll just have to tune in to find out more.

Please support Ricardo's excellent work at Venezuelanalysis ( the best English language news source on Venezuela) and at Utopix (https://utopix.cc/),  a "collaborative work community for a counter-hegemonic, anti-capitalist and alternative visual communication."

  • Abolish The Supreme Court! Rest In Power Mike Gravel.

    Send us Fan Mail

What's up to my velveteen voles and rambunctious red squirrels!

Welcome back to another fire episode of the BNP y'all. Thank you for tuning in and supporting the pod, and shout out to my patrons, you are the fuselage on my gunship and the black and white pattern on my zebra!

Your veggies this week are very tasty indeed. A bit fucked, admittedly, but tasty. As always, I sweeten the meal with some zany audio tidbits, and I share an original poem I've recently written.

First, we unpack the effing Supreme Court's ruling that Nestle and Cargill are legally allowed to profit off of child slavery in Cote D'Ivoire. Abolish SCOTUS! Grrr. It's an utterly undemocratic institution whose primary function is to defend Capital. Only one justice dissented from the 8-1 decision allowing corporations to profit off child slavery. She is Sonia Sotomayor, born in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents, the only good SCOTUS Justice. I tip my hat to her, she showed courage and did the right thing despite her colleagues' grotesque miscarriage of justice. Sonia can stay after we abolish SCOTUS.

Secondly, I pay homage to Mike Gravel, who recently passed on at the age of 91. As a freshman Senator from Alaska in 1971, Gravel was the only person in the entire Senate with the balls to take custody of the top secret Pentagon Papers leaked by whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg. Gravel then spoke the Papers into the public record, risking imprisonment or worse.

The Pentagon Papers were crucially important for the American anti-war movement, as they demonstrated, among other things, that the LBJ administration had "systematically lied, not only to the public but also to Congress" about the goings on in the Vietnam War.

Gravel also bravely fought to prevent the Vietnam War draft, and did more than any other Alaskan Senator to improve the quality of life and access to education for Indigenous Alaskans.

    Rest in Power, Mike Gravel.

What's up to my rabble rousing river otters and strong courageous cockatoos!

Welcome back to another fire episode of the BNP y'all! Do you like zany audio tidbits? We got 'em for you this week! Thank you for listening and supporting the pod.

Tune in for Part Two of a rousing chat with my good comrade Tom Fowler, who spits truth about the immoral behavior and repugnant practices of undercover pigs in the UK.  There was a public inquiry called in 2014 in the UK to investigate the abhorrent dehumanization and degradation of "targets" by the spy cops, such as manipulating young women into long-term intimate relationships as part of their "deployment," and for using the identities of dead children in order to fill out their back stories.  Rage making stuff.

We conclude the interview with me getting to ask Tom a couple questions I haven't heard him asked on other podcasts, such as to talk about his own personal journey into anarchist politics, and why he identifies most strongly with that philosophy to this day.

Jump in and enjoy, and definitely check out Tom's excellent podcast here: Spycops Info.

    Send us Fan Mail

What's up to my rapturous red kites and perspicacious puffins!

Welcome back to the BNP, thank you for tuning in, and dang, do I have a gladsome cock-a-hoop of an episode for all y'all today, my dearest lovies and lily-footed listeners.

This week's guest is Tom Fowler, who calls in all the way from Wales to break down an ongoing public inquiry into abusive and morally abhorrent undercover policing practices in the UK. Tom is a member of an anarchist collective that was infiltrated, and he became close friends with a man who was later outed as an undercover pig.

Tom and other like-minded comrades are a critical part of a growing movement to shed light on and hold to legal account undercover donut munchers who have been manipulating and abusing law abiding citizens in the UK for decades.

These fuck-head cops infiltrate perfectly legal and constitutionally protected political activism groups, such as the anarchist collective Tom was a part of, then proceed to keep gratuitous and explicit notes about all the members, particularly the young women, and finally they attempt to ingratiate themselves within the group's core leadership.

Spy pigs have cultivated intimate relationships with women in groups they've infiltrated, and some have even fathered children with these women, before disappearing when their "deployment" ends. And to think: the state pays them to do this. If that doesn't get you heated, I don't know what to tell ya.

Big shout out to Tom for being so generous with his time and for sharing his experiences and insights. Something Tom says that I really dig is that he is strives to always be a "combatant not a victim." I resonate with that vibe and it's a sentiment I do my best to convey thru Barbarian Noetics.  Be a barbarian, not a victim.

    Send us Fan Mail

What's up to my algebraic Arabian leopards and yeeted Yemeni warblers! (Arabian leopards are critically endangered, learn about what's being done to save them here.)

Welcome back to the BNP y'all, thank you for tuning in, I appreciate you. Shout out to my patrons! Y'all are the beads in my rattle and the smoke of my yerba santa.

This episode we hop on some camels, pack some frankincense and myrrh to trade at bazaars we pass along the way, and journey across the Arabian Peninsula to Yemen, the topic of this week's ep.

I've always been interested in Yemen because I had a paranormal experience many years ago when I received a phantom text message from an unknown number that simply said: I have seen it in a dream. You will go to Yemen.

So, I've started paying attention to Yemen, which lately has meant paying attention to a brutal and protracted civil war that has gripped the nation in earnest since 2014 and has caused a major humanitarian crisis for the Yemeni people. I'd often hear about U.S. support for this Saudi-led campaign of extermination against a group of native Yemenis called the Houthis.

After a time, as the war dragged on and on, I started to wonder: who are these Houthis and how they managing to stand their ground in the mountains of northern Yemen against the biggest and most advanced military in the middle east, which is also being lavishly supported by the U.S.?

This episode is my attempt to unpack the civil war in Yemen, examine its context and history, and to analyze tactics that the Houthi rebels are using to defend their homeland.

    Send us Fan Mail

What's up to my mutable sprigs of mugwort and talented taciturn mud turtles!

Welcome back to another sizzling platter of tasty and nutritious BNP content y'all!

This week's ep is Part Two of my chat about the World Economic Forum and the Cyber Polygon simulation with the eloquent and oh so well-researched Dr. Sylvie Salinger.

We cover WEF founder Klaus Schwab (aka demon from Hell), the 4th Industrial A.I. Revolution, and finally we break down Cyber Polygon: a now annual WEF-organized simulation exercise (involving all sorts of unsavory heavy hitters, such as IBM, Interpol and Visa) that games out and seeds a narrative of a looming massive ransomware attack that targets the global supply chain.

We discuss why such an event would be useful to the WEF's stated goals and how it could be leveraged as such, in order to bring about their super fun vision of the future where peons like us in the working class "own nothing but are happy," and where our day to day needs and wants are rented and delivered via drone to our shelter pods. No thanks. Hard pass on that.

What's up to my ruminating rat terriers and frisky fangtooth snake-eels!

Welcome back to the BNP y'all and thank you for tuning in and shout out to my patrons! Y'all are the seaweed in my miso and the Egyptian in my cotton.

This week's episode is a DOOZY y'all, so blend yourself a smoothie, get the Epsom salt foot bath ready, keep the kief handy and strap your booties in for this one, as we dive into the unsavory world of the World Economic Forum (and a host of other equally unsavory players) and its concerningly featured founder Klaus Shwab (Yikes-aroony to that guy). We examine the uncanny ability of the WEF, Gates Foundation, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and John's Hopkins U (among others) to run simulations and game out "fictional scenarios" that have a way of actually transpiring in reality mere months later.

In 2019, the WEF and basically the entire U.S. government gamed out two different simulations of a novel coronavirus that cascades into a global pandemic. The similarities between these simulations and the real thing are downright chilling.  One 2019 sim called Crimson Contagion even had the novel coronavirus originating in China. They even cook up fake news reports and tweets that also end up manifesting amazingly similarly in reality.

We need to examine the shadowy institutions and figures behind these simulations, so we can be better prepared for whatever they're cooking up next (spoiler alert: it's a massive ransomware attack targeting global supply chains, and the sim they are running annually to game this out is called Cyber Polygon. Totally normal stuff.)

Joining us on this journey of discovery and chills is returning champ Dr. Sylvie Salinger, PhD. Sylvie did her dissertation on artificial intelligence, and has done a ton of research about the Great Reset as well as yet another pandemic simulation from 2017 called SPARS, and was kind enough to hop on the pod and educate us. Big thank you and shout out to Sylvie for helping me unpack this massive topic.

What's up to my nifty nubian ibexes and perspicacious Palestine mountain gazelles!

Welcome back to the BNP y'all and thank you for tuning in! Shout out to my patrons: y'all are the drivers in my headphones and the Freon in my air conditioner.

This week's episode comes from the heart. I did my best to do right by a topic that feels like a car alarm constantly going off in my heart: Palestine.

The tenacious, obstinate and strategic Palestinian resistance to the colonial brutality of apartheid Israel, backed by the imperial ambitions of the U.S., is one of the most impressive and important stories of our time. As of 2AM on March 21, a ceasefire was declared. Make no mistake: this is a victory for Palestine.

Palestinian voices featured in this episode include: Palestinian-American journalist Ali Abunimah and Palestinian-American lawyer and journalist Larah Elborno on the Electronic Intifada podcast, and Palestinian writer and activist Mohammed El-Kurd on Devyn Springer's Groundings Podcast.

Thumbnail cover art features Leila Khaled, a Palestinian refugee and member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. She has been in the struggle her whole life and is now 77 years old.
