Welcome back to the BNP everybody and thank you for tuning in! Shout out to my patrons, y'all are the chlorophyll in my leafy greens, thank you!! (Psst: Beloved reader! This week's episode is a solo venture, featuring robots, words from sponsors and poems! Your veggies this week tackle a massively important figure in both Congolese and Pan-African history and someone who is not taught nearly enough (or ever) in US public schools: Patrice Lumumba.

Patrice Lumumba was a trade unionist who became the first ever Prime Minister of the independent Democratic Republic of the Congo, serving from June until September of 1960. Lumumba was an African nationalist and Pan-Africanist, and his mission was to free the Congo from the yoke of hundreds of years of unspeakably brutal colonial and neo-colonial oppression. Belgium was truly horrific to the people of the Congo.

Lumumba's political aims included nationalizing the massive mineral wealth of the Congo so that the government could provide basic universal services to the Congolese people, such as housing, healthcare, childcare and education.

However, Patrice Lumumba, like so many great men who effectively oppose the status quo, had earned enemies, and some of these enemies were very powerful. Ultimately, the C.I.A. (Boooo), UK's MI6 (Boooo) and the Belgian Intelligence Services (Boooo) teamed up, and with U.N. complicity, had Lumumba arrested, tortured and executed by his political rivals. He was only 35 years old.

Tune in to learn more about this hero, activist, political leader, and ultimately, a powerful martyr for the cause of Congolese Independence, African nationalism and Pan-Africanism.

What's up to my gorgeous gophers and ardent American Dippers!

Welcome back to another sizzling platter of BNP realness. Thank you for joining!

For your tastefully seasoned veggies this week, we look at the case of Leonard Peltier, America's longest incarcerated political prisoner. Leonard is a leader of the American Indian Movement (AIM), an Indigenous Power organization that took over Alcatraz Island for19 months and occupied the site of the Wounded Knee massacre for 71 days.

Leonard is innocent. He was targeted and persecuted by the FBI after two agents were fatally wounded in a shootout with AIM members on June 26, 1975 in Oglala, North Dakota. Leonard was present at the shootout, however he was helping to defend women and children, and he did not shoot the agents.  The bullets that killed the agents did not match the caliber of Leonard's rifle, and this evidence was withheld from court.

The FBI tampered with evidence and intimidated witnesses in Leonard's case, some of whom were minors.

Leonard is now 77 years old, and is health is suffering. It's time for Leonard to be set free, so he can live out the rest of his life at home and in peace, and with proper medical care. This episode is intended to spotlight this case and raise awareness for the need to Free Leonard Peltier.

What's up to my salubrious stingrays and darlingly derelict dingoes! (Side note: darlingly should be a word, even if it's not. I'm claiming artistic license.)

Welcome back to the BNP y'all and thank you for popping in and sharing some time and space with me, so we can elevate the human spirit, together.

This week is a solo episode, with some tidbits and tapas thrown in, along with periodic thoughtful interludes. I open up about some stuff.

Then, our complexly seasoned veggies this week unpack the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy on June 5, 1968. He was mortally wounded just moments after giving his victory speech for having won the California primary. Kennedy was poised to be the Democratic nominee, and would he have beaten Nixon in 1968? I think so yes. He was wildly popular amongst a diverse array of demographics. He was a civil rights advocate, he wanted to get out of Vietnam, and he wanted to reform the tax code so that the wealthy paid more money and not just the working class. He wasn't perfect by any means. However, it cannot be overstated how radically his murder altered the course of American history, and in all the wrong ways.

What's up to my ferocious field spaniels and cockamamie one hump camels!

Welcome back to the BNP everyone and thank you for jumping in! If this is your first time listening, welcome to our tribe of philosopher-barbarians! You're among friends. Shout out to my patrons! Y'all are the air pockets in my bubble wrap and the cozy toes in my soft white sand. <3

This week I'm back to ridin' solo, and I was called to tackle a veggie topic of tremendous, even existential, importance to all life on earth: climate change and the rights of Mother Earth.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) just came out with their 2021 report, and in a nutshell the findings were thus: the climate is indisputably, scientifically, in crisis, and our only choice as a species is to make radical changes to our way of being human in the world, not just individually through individual choices, but on a coordinated global societal level. That means a tectonic shifting of material and spiritual, economic and psychological perspective. That means seeing the human family as one family, and seeing our resplendent planet Earth as our one and only home.

What better way to begin this critical journey of ecological and societal transformation than to look back at a critically important and totally overlooked (in the West anyway) global conference that took place in April of 2010: The Cochabamba People's Agreement on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth. 192 countries (!!!) participated in this conference, which was held in a small town in a central Bolivian valley, at the feet of the eastern Andes.

You haven't heard of this Conference because goings on in the Global South are systematically excluded from our eurocentric U.S. discourse, especially when they challenge capitalism.

What's up to my serendipitous star clusters and neighborly nebulae!

Welcome back to the BNP y'all, thank you for tuning in, and lo! Across the starboard bow, my maties, 'tis another sumptuous episode steaming on your plate like content saganaki, fresh off the firing pan. Yum!

This week's episode is Part Two of a luminescent and elucidating chat with the great animator and artist Lubomir Arsov. In Part Two we continue our deep dive into the symbology of Lubomir's peerless short film In-Shadow, which you can find here.

We chat about the nature of autonomous collective thought forms known in chaos magick as egregores, and we examine how these beings are represented both in Lubomir's film and in our greater shared reality. We also talk about reasons to stay strong and have hope, such as the presence of an immaterial angelic thread of power and goodness that is coursing through humanity as we speak, as well as breathwork and meditation that can help to ground one's energy in this renewing spring of Universal Song.

Support Lubomir! Follow him on IG @lubomirarsov and stay tuned for his next projects: they are gonna be amazing.

What's up to my salacious sables and ginger-bellied blacksnakes!

Welcome back to the BNP everybody and dang, do I have a tasty platter of some delicately seasoned content for all y'all today!

It is my absolute pleasure to welcome to the BNP, esteemed animator, director and storyboard artist Lubomir Arsov. Lubomir is a storyboard artist, character artist and an innovative, original animator, and he has worked for such major productions as The Ice Age and The Book of Life.

I discovered Lubomir's animated short film In Shadow the other night while searching for trippy cartoons on the Interwebs, and it absolutely blew me away. In Shadow is a 13 minute long journey into the deep, dark underbelly and collective Unconscious of modern Western man. If that sounds like it would be gruesome and spooky, you'd be correct.

Arsov's work tackles the hidden secrets and buried taboos that in many ways define our modern world, even while they are largely ignored (at least consciously) by the masses. In Shadow drags this horrific darkness out into the light, and ultimately the film is an uplifting and confronting invitation to rehabilitate our darkest personal and societal shames, and to bathe our fears and hatred in the light of Infinite Awareness.

Definitely check it out!! You can find In Shadow on Vimeo, YouTube, and many other sites.

This episode is Part One of my chat with Lubomir. Part Two drops next week.

Support Lubomir! Find him on IG @lubomirarsov to keep up with his latest and ongoing visionary projects. What a blessing to speak with such a powerful artist. I'm excited to share this conversation with the world.

What's up to my playfully petulant platypuses and taciturn tender-bellied terns!

Welcome back to the BNP y'all, and thank you for tuning in. To my patrons: y'all are the Gorilla in my Glue, I couldn't do it without you.

This week's episode is a solo mission, tackling a subject that's near and dear to my heart and which is not getting the attention it deserves. On July 27, drone whistleblower Daniel Hale was sentenced to 45 months in prison, for the crime of telling the American people the truth about our drone program: that it kills 90% civilians.

The U.S. drone program is terroristic, homicidal and cowardly. U.S. Air Force veteran Daniel Hale had the courage to stand up and inform us, at tremendous personal sacrifice. He is 33 years old, and he will be behind bars until May of 2025.

This episode is to honor and commemorate this courageous American hero, and the sacrifice he made for all of us, so that we could be informed citizens, and decide for ourselves whether we consent to our taxes being used to kill 90% civilians in far away lands.

As always, I make sure your veggies are well-seasoned, and I break it up with some palate cleansing audio morsels and sweetened zany tidbits.

Welcome back to the BNP y'all and thank you for tuning in and supporting the BNP! Shout out to my patrons: y'all are the cat stickers on my water bottle and the tardigrades in my vial of pond water.

This episode I'm stoked to welcome back returning champ Pete Koeneman, calling in all the way from Maui. It's always a good time when Pete joins the pod and this ep is no exception.

We chat about life on the island and how wayyyy too many hoomans are coming to visit the island right now. We also discuss the FDA's latest slimy, desperate, and dangerous move to attempt an international ban on the plant medicine kratom,  which helps millions of people around the world, and especially in the U.S., wean off prescription opiates. It helped me to defeat alcoholism. The American Kratom Association is filing a suit to extend the comment period for this proposed ban until later in August- find out more at protectkratom.org.

It is the BNP after all so we rant a bit about Big Pharma, gentrification, autocracy, and other assorted cheerful topics relating to the overall tailspin of our late stage global capitalist system. But never fear! We end the discussion on a positive note, discussing past lives and the indomitability of (and need to elevate) the human spirit.

Finally we get an update on Pete's property in Kenya and he even drops some very exciting news... BNP world premier... but you'll just have to listen to find out.

Hi friends. This emergency micro ep is a call to action to protect the plant medicine Kratom from an FDA and Big Pharma push for an International Ban.  We have until August 9 to submit comments to the W.H.O and the U.N. about how kratom has helped us or a loved one. Please keep comments courteous and positive- do not attack the FDA in comments. (I'm gonna do a whole episode about how fucked the FDA soon, don't worry).

Big Pharma is losing profit due to kratom weaning Americans off deadly Rx pain pills, and that is the only reason why its blood brothers at the FDA are so dead set on criminalizing it. Don't let the FDA win!

Make your voice heard! Submit your comments here: https://www.americankratom.org/advocacy/who-formal-comments.html

Or here: https://www.protectkratom.org/

Submit by August 9. Remember: you don't have to use kratom to leave a comment about how it helped a friend (or podcast host).

Kratom is a big reason why I was able to defeat alcoholism. It helps millions of Americans every day to stave off depression and anxiety, and to overcome addiction to deadly prescription pain pills.

Kratom is not an opiate. Kratom is a safe herbal supplement that behaves as a partial mu-opioid receptor agonist and is used for pain management, energy, even depression and anxiety that are common among Americans. Kratom contains no opiates, but it does bind to the same receptor sites in the brain. Chocolate, coffee, exercise and even human breast milk hit these receptor sites in a similar fashion.

Check out the science here: https://www.americankratom.org/advocacy/science.html

In addition to harming millions of Americans, a ban on kratom would devastate the Indonesian working class, as millions of Indonesians rely on growing kratom for their livelihoods.

Thank you for your help everyone. I'll be posting a new episode like normal this Sunday.

One Love,
Conan

Welcome back to another well-rounded, delicately seasoned and utterly delicious audio platter of BNP yumyums! Thank you for tuning in!! To my Patrons: if I were a cat (well, I am a cat, but if I were physically and anatomically an actual cat), I would rub my whiskers against you as I walk by and purr. Purrrrrr.

This episode is Part Two of my chat with Jessica Castillo of the Blooming Minds Podcast. In the second part of our chat we take a deep dive into the fascinating Universe of emotional intelligence.  As an avid student of child psychology, Jess leads us on a discussion of EQ and its critical importance in the development of young minds (and all minds), especially when handling trauma and stress in one's own life.

We also commiserate a little bit about why bosses suck, bc this is the BNP after all. We jump into all sorts of other topics as well, such as the distinction between judgement and discernment, techniques for overcoming emotional manipulation, and we conclude with Jess sharing all about her exciting new project, Blooming Minds Podcast.
