After decades of false starts and several months of building hype, we finally have a live action feature film focusing on Barbie, Mattel's long-running line of popular dolls!   And it has QUITE the pedigree: it's directed by Greta Gerwig as a follow-up to her last two films (Lady Bird, Little Women) which both received Oscar nominations for Best Picture.   Gerwig also co-wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach who himself has received multiple Oscar nominations for previous films including Marriage Story.  AND it also stars two actors who have received multiple Oscar nominations: Margot Robbie plays our eponymous heroine Barbie while Ryan Gosling plays Ken.  

The story follows Barbie living an idyllic life suddenly dealing with an existential crisis which turns everything upside down....and we'll leave it at that as things just get increasingly surreal.  The stacked cast also includes Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, America Ferrara, Will Ferrell, and Simi Liu among several others.  Let's head to Barbie World!
