Voting for the 2022 Goodreads Choice Awards has closed, so Erin and Maddy are closing things out by discussing the 2021 science fiction winners. We discuss our thoughts on two very different books that caught the attention of readers. The runner-up was Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro, and the winner was Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. With the first round of voting open for the 2022 Goodreads Choice Awards we decided to revisit the 2019 romance category and read the winner: Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston and the runner-up: Verity by Colleen Hoover. For this episode Maddy and Erin decided to switch it up and both read two different books that fit the vibes of spooky season. They chose not to go down the wholesome pumpkin spice route and, instead, landed on The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris and The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones. Light a candle, grab a latte, and sit down to listen to their thoughts on these two disturbing books.

The trope for this podcast was an Asian American/Pacific Islander inspired book. Maddy read The Hand of the Sun King by J.T. Greathouse and Erin read Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li. Both loved the Asian elements of the books and cannot wait to read more AAPI novels in the future. We hope you give it a listen!
