In 2020 I got to interview Mary Beth Peil, who's known for her illustrious career in both Television and Theatre. Mary Beth's first TV series regular role was playing "Grams" on the WB's Dawson's Creek.

Mary Beth Peil started her professional career touring with Boris Goldovsky's opera company and the Metropolitan Opera's national company in Mozart and da Ponte's The Marriage of Figaro. She also sang with the New York City Opera.

After a starring turn in an out of town production of Kiss Me, Kate, Mary Beth Peil found herself on the national tour The King and I, as the twelfth and final Anna Leonowens opposite Yul Brynner. The production toured the United States, closing on Broadway shortly before Brynner's death in 1985. Mary Beth was nominated for a Tony Award for “Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical.”

Her other theatrical credits include: Sweeney Todd at the Kennedy Center, the Broadway revival of Nine where she played The Mother to Antonio Banderas' Guido, Roundabout Theatre’s Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George, the Lincoln Center Theater production of the Broadway musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, based upon the movie of the same name, Stephen Sondheim's Follies and most recently Broadway’s Anastasia as Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna, in which Mary Beth was nominated for a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award in the category of “Best Featured Actress in a Musical.”

In addition to her stage work, Mary Beth Peil is known to millions of TV viewers for her roles on the CW’s Dawson’s Creek (as Grams, the grandmother to Michelle Williams’ character) & CBS’ The Good Wife, where she played Jackie Florrick, the mother of Chris Noth’s character. Additionally, Mary Beth has been seen in Showtime’s The Reagans as Nancy Reagan’s mother, NBC’s Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, Fringe, and The VIllage.

Mary Beth has also appeared in such films as The Odd Couple II, playing Jack Lemmon’s love interest, Jersey Girl, The Stepford Wives, Shortbus, Mirrors, and many others.

Barry Jay, founder of the fitness franchise Barry's Bootcamp, is also a filmmaker of horror/thriller movies.

I’m so excited to catch up with Barry to discuss the making of his newest thriller, The Way Out, starring Sherri Shepherd, Mike Manning, Jonny Beauchamp & Ashleigh Murray.

Barry Jay moved from Monsey, New York to Los Angeles, CA in 1983 to be a songwriter. Aside from being a songwriter, when Barry was a kid, he loved making his own horror movies on his Super 8 camera. This passion followed him into his adult life and in 2015, Barry penned his first horror film, The Chosen, produced by Terror Films. Barry wrote the wraparound story for another Terror Films production in 2016, the horror anthology Patient Seven.

Barry made his directorial debut in 2019 with a script he wrote, Ashes, followed up by Killer Therapy.  The Way Out is another film for Barry under the Terror Films Banner.  

And prior to all this, in 1998, Barry founded the popular workout, Barry’s Bootcamp with over 90 studios worldwide. Currently he resides in Nevada with his husband and 4 rescue dogs.

Dan Lauria is most loved and recognized as the dad on the highly acclaimed Emmy winning, ABC television show, THE WONDER YEARS which made him known as America’s favorite TV dad for six successful seasons.

Dan is a very familiar face to the off-off, off and regional theatre scene having performed, written or directed over 50 professional stage productions. He has appeared as a guest star in over seventy television episodic programs and more than twenty ‘Movie Of The Week’ productions plus a score of motion picture credits.

In 2010-11 Dan was seen on Broadway in the long running production of LOMBARDI as the legendary coach Vince Lombardi with the beautiful and talented Judith Light, directed by Thomas Kail of Hamilton fame and returned again in the 2013-14 productions of the Tony nominated A CHRISTMAS STORY: The Musical, directed by John Rando. 

Dan and dear friend, the lovely and talented Ms. Wendie Malick have performed the play THE GUYS by Anne Nelson (about our first responders) for numerous theatre and fire departments, around the country. Wendie and Dan also perform LOVE LETTERS as a fundraiser for regional theatres, for the development of new plays. 

Dan has a long-standing acting career in which he has been seen worldwide on the TBS TV show, SULLIVAN & SON, for three seasons and also played Al Loungo on PITCH: about the first woman pitcher in major league baseball. His most recent role is him joining the family of THIS IS US as the father of Toby.

Dan has now wrote and starred in the off Broadway production of DINNER WITH THE BOYS produced by the one and only Pat Addis and the NJ Rep. This was followed by a off Broadway production of THE STONE WITCH by Shem Bitterman and the upcoming Regional production of Lee Blessings new play; TEA WITH THE BOSS with Gwenn and Wendie Malick. 

When Dan is not on screen or a Broadway stage he and his Godson Julian Farnsworth are writing children’s books. The most popular one today is The Godfather Tales.

Broadway Actor Brandon Victor Dixon (Hamilton, The Color Purple, Jesus Christ Superstar) discusses being part of the world premiere recording of MacGyver The Musical in this interview with Adam Rothenberg, host of the entertainment website Call Me Adam.

Based upon the 80s TV Show MacGyver, MacGyver The Musical's cast recording will be released on January 27, 2023 on Broadway Records.

Brandon Victor Dixon is an American actor, singer and theatrical producer. As a musical theatre actor, he is known for Tony Award-nominated Broadway performances as Harpo in the 2005 musical The Color Purple and Eubie Blake in Shuffle Along, or, the Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed (2016). He originated both roles, as well as the leading role of Berry Gordy Jr. in Motown: The Musical (2013) on Broadway, which earned a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. In 2016, Dixon assumed the role of Aaron Burr in the Broadway company of Hamilton. Off-Broadway as well as in London's West End, Dixon played the role of Hayward Patterson in The Scottsboro Boys and was nominated for a 2014 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical.

As a producer, Dixon's credits include Broadway revivals of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Of Mice and Men (2014); the former won the 2014 Tony Award and the Drama Desk Award for best revival of a musical. In 2018, Dixon portrayed Judas Iscariot in NBC's live concert version of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, for which he received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

So honored that five-time Emmy Nominated actress Sharon Lawrence answered my call.

With a career that spans TV, Movies & Theatre, Sharon Lawrence has been entertaining audiences for over 30 years!

I have been a fan of Sharon’s since 1997 when she starred in her own NBC comedy series Fired Up (co-starring Leah Remini).

On Broadway, Sharon has been seen in the revivals of Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof & Chicago.

Her TV/Film credits include NYPD Blue, Queen Sugar, Shameless, Dynasty, Rizzoli & Isles, Drop Dead Diva, One Tree Hill, Grey’s Anatomy, The Christmas House & The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls. Sharon just finished filming Season 2 of Spectrum's Joe Pickett.
