As a powerful winter storm drew near we safely gathered around the fire moments before the rain came pouring down. The wind set the mood for this eclectic journey through time and space. Coby Lee Brooks is really an incredibly poetic storyteller with an unreal voice. The tunes he shared with us really bring you back to a simpler time when telling stories around the campfire was commonplace. It was initially Adrian Peter Ross we reached out to so that he could share the story of the iconic Bar and Restaurant / Store / Brand HOME. Adrian has very modestly been a mentor to so many individuals including Coby, who he suggested we have on the show with him. Adrian is also a very important figure in the North County SD community, and has played a big role in cultivating a true rock and roll scene and a sense of community. The synergy was pure magic you could feel in the air. We were so lucky to get to hear the story of HOME and all about the friendship between Adrian's uncle Richard Ross and John Lennon. In 1972 Richards friend May Pang introduced Lennon to Richard and to Home. The two formed a tight and spiritual relationship that would carry on for over a decade preceding their respective deaths in 1980 and 1984. Both Coby and Adrian have new music coming out this year that we are thrilled about. Coby has been traveling to Georgia to work with an incredibly talented producer named Mark Neill who is one of this generations pre-imminent producer/sound engineers. One recent big credit is The Black Keys "Brothers" album they cut in Mussel Shoals Alabama. Coby's new music is due out this Spring 2021 so keep your eyes peeled! Adrians new group Crashing Wayward has also been working with an awesome producer named Mike Gillies who has been working with Metallica for the past 25 years. The stars aligned to bring us the most legendary line up for our first double digit episode. A portal seemed to open and all of a sudden we were in a guitar dreamland. One of the best humans to ever come out of Encinitas, Isaiah Mitchell, graced us with a few stories and his mesmerizing touch of the guitar. What better match than to have Nick Pourfard and Max Killigrew of Prisma Guitars to show off some of their latest masterpieces and return Isaiah's custom sunset model after a neck swap with Max's "Guitar of Friendship". We chat about Prisma collaborations such as the skate drum kit with Vessel Drums Co, the skate snowboard with DC, and 5 custom 1-of-1 guitars with legendary street artist Dalek. Isaiah shares about starting Earthless 19 years ago with his friends Mike Eginton and Mario Rubalcaba who he really looked up to as a kid. We talk about him getting to play with so many incredible people along the way such as Howlin Rain and The Black Crowes. As well as his friendship with Tim Brennan of TYM Guitars in Brisbane, AU who has made pedals for Mike and Isaiah out of his love for the band. There was so much to talk about but we were able to get a few jams in that left us all with our jaws to the floor each time. The energy was just right from the start of this inspiring night. The Fresh Veggies Micro Brass consists of some of SD's hardest hitting musicians and sweetest people we have had the pleasure to meet. Wili Flemming leads the group with his mystical vocals and bone-chilling trombone. Wili is an advocate for other marching band kids to start experimenting with what their instrument can do. Jesse Audelo; who the band has many nick names for including The Professor, The Oracle, and The Professional to name a few; shows us all of the unique sounds a baritone sax can make and enlightens us on some pro music industry tips. The original bass instrument, The Tuba, was taken way outside the box by the incredibly talented Aaron Gragg who also leads his own band called the Chunky Hustle Brass Band. The stamina is takes to play this instrument that is essentially as big as him is jaw-dropping. Last but not least Matt Smith on the drum kit takes the sound to a new level by showing off his vast musical knowledge and ease around the kit. Even though the music seemed impossible when Willi came to them with the charts, this group of good friends worked hard to make the tunes come to life.   

One thing we really love about this band is their message of eating fresh and growing your own food. Their passion for spreading this message burns as hot as their love for music and one another. If I had to use 1 word to describe this group it would be "Genuine". You can tell they do this simply for the love it, and truly want to help others eat and live well.   

We were lucky to hear a few new originals tunes that are being recored soon! So keep your eyes and ears peeled for their first release. Fresh Veggies also performed a breath talking cover of Regina Spector's "Prisoners" which was originally written on piano. We are thrilled to see whats next for this experimental brass band. Hopefully a farm tour comes into fruition once the world starts to open back up. We hope you have as much fun watching this as we had making it!

Francis Blume is a rare talent that has been turning a lot of heads with his incredible melancholy and whimsical sound. Songwriting is a big strength and that becomes clear fast during this magical night. So much so that he recently won a songwriting contest put on by Rockbridge Guitars. The judges being the likes of Dave Matthews, Emily King, Amos Lee, and producer John Alagia.  The creativity coming from both of these fine gentlemen is breath taking. Do yourself a favor and check out these rising talents.

Anthony Cullins is a fierce band leader at only age 20. His last album entitled "Hittin all Cylinders" he put out at 15 and you can find at AnthonyCullins.com We had his trio (Kyre Wilcox- Bass, Malachi Johnson- Drums) join us in the barn to play some new and old material and talk about life growing up as the Fallbrook Kid. We discus everything from growing up hitting all the jams at an early age, to some killer players he has had the pleasure to work with. This week we dive deep with Kumeyaay tribe members Paul Cannon and Blue Eagle. Iron (Damian DeRobbio) and Sage (Paul Cannon) of Iron Sage Wood serenade us with their songs of love and unity. The Barn was blessed with a new single to be released on the Winter solstice called "Rain or Shine". Blue spoke of his traditional Kumeyaay music education and the work he does within the tribe helping youth and family all around. This week was one for the books!

We had a great time with Shawn McClondon and the Barn Time Band. Shawn walked us through the origins of the Sister Cities Project and all of the incredible work they are doing to create opportunity and equality starting at our local scale. The Sister Cities Projects outlines how focusing on increasing cultural exposure and providing marketing tools to businesses owned by black women can benefit everyone. He explains it much better so it's best to just watch the video :) The Barn Time Band being that it came into fruition on this episode shared with us beautifully textured tunes with a groove that'll put that pep in your step.
