"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land" There can be many answers to the question, "Why the meek are blessed and will inherit the land". One of them is that because their hearts are more like the heart of Jesus Christ than anyone else's. The original word that means "gentle" in English used by Jesu to say that he is gentle and humble in heart, according to Matthew 11, is also used by him to speak about blessedness of "the meek". The meekness of Jesus is characterized by God the Son's total submission to the supremacy of God the Father, and completely align with his loving and benevolent principles. The heart of the meek endures discomfort, shame, and hurt at the expense of acknowledging and accepting the reality of their weaknesses, mistakes, and transgression. Therefore, when their short-comings are exposed by the message of the gospel, they don't take it as offense and become defensive or blame-shifting. Instead, they meekly embrace the penetrating illumination of the message of the gospel in their hearts. The meek are able to overcome their desire to react evil with evil when they encounter wickedness because this powerful character is one of the products of the work of the Spirit in their hearts. The meek have ability not only to be resilient to endure injustice, but also to perseveringly fight for the justice of God because it is preserved for those who submit themselves to the sovereignty of God. The meek can be patient in suffering because their ultimate hope is in God who have infinite power. Therefore, Jesus promises the meek to inherit the land, which is not only the kingdom of God on earth established in their hearts under the kingship of Christ, but the eternal kingdom of God in heaven as well. May you be able to conquer the world in meekness!
