As I realize that for many reasons many of you may not have the joy of Christmas from the previous Christmas time, let me share with you my understanding of real joy of Christmas. The joy that I want to talk about is the joy of God, not of anything else. Humans, unlike other created order such as animals and plants, are the only earthly beings able to know God and their need of God. Because of the nature of the spirit (life) that God breathed into them, they are always in need of fellowship with God from whom they descended. So, joy is brought into the heart of everyone who can at any time have true fellowship with God in spirit.
Sadly, because many people do not know that the joy that they need is available only through fellowship with God, they often seek it from other sources, but fail to find it and get frustrated because it is not from God. The true joy of Christmas is the joy exists in the hearts of God's children, who have fellowship with the God the Father in his Spirit as they celebrate it in remembrance of God the Son's coming to the world in human nature.
Children of God do not need to seek the joy of God in the Christmas celebrations including decorations, singings, gifts, and great feasts. Instead, it is already in the hearts of God's children who can keep healthy fellowship with God. Brothers and sisters, let me urge you to restore or restrengthen your healthy fellowship with God in repentance, reinviting the Spirit to dwell in your hearts, and resubmit yourselves to the lordship of Jesus if you have not received the joy of God that alone can help you face your stormy moments of your life. To those who have not received Jesus the Son of God as your savior and personal Lord, let me urge you to find the true, satisfying, and long-lasting joy in believing in him. Your belief in him will subsequently help you not only to withstand challenges of your life, but take you to the promised eternity in heaven as well.
